I would make sure to look for another vet, and I would call the other vet and let them know why you are leaving their practice. Talk to the main vet or office manager and tell them know how they made you feel. Vets are not cheap and if you have a business that service people and their pets you had better be nice, too many vets that are cordial.

Often dogs don't know WHERE to go, in a new place. So, take them out every 3 hrs and treat/praise with proper elimation. Also, keep the areas of the apt your not in, closed. Keep the dog with you, and if you see the nose down, take it out. This should pass as the dog gets more settled. We travel a lot with our dogs, and we keep them with us in motel rooms, with closets, bathrooms shut. When they act like they are sniffing, we take them out. Also, extra exercise with your b will help. Good luck

We have 4 ft. chain link and the dogs have a dog door. We are fortunate that ours are not escapers, they are older couch potatoes but even as youngsters they never tried to escape. Ours have outdoor access 24/7, whether we are here or not, which is nice if we get tied up and are away from home all day. I agree with Sharron, in my experience, single dogs are more likely to go looking for adventure! Anne in Tampa

Mine are lucky (unless for a show) if they get a bath 2x's a year… and I use this in the tub/shower with doors on the shower and the tub, so they can't escape... ggg.. Rinse Ace Pet Shower - you can find it at most on line catalogs, this is from KVET http://www.kvvet.com

I tried a harness too but got too complicated to undo and my dog kept chewing it. Gave that up and she lies in a transport cage that takes all the back of my car. Had no choice after one seat belt has been dammaged as well as whatever was in the car!. When she is in her "car home", she just goes to sleep or sits up and looks at the road, cars and other things she would like to run after (the back of my car has a large rear window so, plenty to look at during a long journey). No room left in my car but a good solution for my Basenji, when I open the door of her "car home", she waits until I have put the leash on and then jumps out, well attached. If I take her with me in a friend's car, she sits on the back seat quietly BUT no way, can I leave her alone in that car, she would destroy everything and pee on the seats !(from past experience, not much fun for my friends)

there are at least 4 Old Legend's B's in Austria, but I guess more "south" than Vienna ;-) And of course, the "big old Lady" Mrs. Phyllis Poduschka-Aigner (Jangua Basenjis). but I guess, these people do not communicate a lot over the internet. We're sorry, but we cannot remember the city's name, but there is a big dog show every year….ups, running around a little reminded us, that the city's name was Graz.... baroos to you Jester & Banshee (Old Legend's Anam Chara and Old Legend's Banshee)

We have the movie, only because it is about a Basenji, but even my kids {who were raised on old movies} think it's a bit much – the Basenji crying had them giggling out loud. They did all want to smack the kid around for his training techniques though, LOL. Oh, and you're right agile, it's a Warner Brothers movie.

@agilebasenji: Janneke- My mom had the same thing happen. She met someone at a workshop and they ended up talking about dogs. Mom was telling this other person about my basenjis, other woman said it sounded like the dog next door. Mom ended up seeing the dog and mom told me "It looked like a basenji, but it was all HAIRY." :D I showed pictures of Shibas, because I thought it would be pretty weird that there was another b just 5 km from our home.. She said it was a b..

EL D will occasionally sleep partly on the pillow (when I'm not in the bed). Usually though he sleeps totally under the covers (actually his own sleeping bag on the bed).

I don't have such a problem with the squirrels but just the neighbors - some are pretty sloppy when they put out the trash on collection day and bits and pieces are always hiding in the grass when EL D and I come by on our walks the next day or the next day or the next day. I always worry that someday he'll scarf down something that could be dangerous before I can get it out.

@Natalplum: Shannon~Thank you so much for the offer. You are an amazing and caring person for even offering. It means so much to me and my family. Without any hesitation you would drive half way and meet me. This alone is an amazing act. I will never forget your kindness. My husband's cousin has offered to take our B and he has another dog which would help. Val Hey no problem. Glad you could find someone you know and who is closer. That will definitely work out better for you. Have a great trip.
