I love the Q-tip obsession! We discovered a hilarious game…my husband goes on one side of a closed dog and Darwin and I are on the other. then my husband drags the Q-tips around under the door or randomly pokes it out. Darwin goes crazy trying to get the Q-tip!

Oh how lucky you are! Trixie hides everything on my hubby's bed and mine! Bully sticks, pig snouts you name it. And not just on the bed but often behind our pillows! Gross!!!!! Ha Ha

I have no idea… but I did see a really cute Elvis costume today. hahahah

EWWWWW! Especially the being speared on the tooth part! Chey caught a pigeon in the yard once. I took them for their afternoon walk and when I went out to throw the poop out back I noticed feathers all over the yard. Silly me thought a cat or hawk had gotten the poor thing. I cleaned up the feathers and a foot, went inside and Chey wasn't around. I found her sitting on our bed with the remains, very proud of herself. It took me some coaxing to get it away from her and then I had to wash all the bedding…which I had just finished doing earlier in the day!

Thank you for all of the advice, well wishes & prayers. We are very very fortunate to have such a sweet friend in mauigirl. She not only cooked me breakfast Friday & let me borrow her Zip to make me feel better about leaving Lola in a stranger's hands, she battled rush hour traffic to pick up my baby since I had to be at work unexpectedly. I couldn't get out of work & over to pick Lola up until 2am, but I found her safe & sound. She was very very happy to see me, and adorable in her large e-collar. She came home & instantly jumped on the bed (grrr). She slept well, and has just been a little subdued this evening as her morning pain meds have worn off. You were all right… I was overly worried for nothing. The hardest part is keeping her still. Funny story... I was in a rush this morning to get to work, and didn't make time to reassemble her crate from her stay at mauigirl's. I put a blanket in the bathroom floor & closed her in with her e-collar on. Came home 4 hours later, opened the bathroom door & she rushes out, minus e-collar. She chewed through one of the loops on the collar & through two loops of string used to tie it on to her neck. She has decided she will not wear an e-collar. We're watching her closely, and so far she hasn't messed with her incision so hopefully we won't need to go buy another one. Didn't even last one morning...:rolleyes:

Oh to have a silent Basenji. Our Bitty has, unfortunately, learned that the loudest dog gets fed first, and yips and yodels from the instant I move toward the garage door (where we have to keep their food) until I put her dinner before her. Her other loud period is every evening when my wife comes in the door from work, all 3 of the puppers flock to her and vocally announce 'momma's home' at the top of their lungs. It must be wonderful to be so loved, ha ha.

Tillo doesn't like the rain as well. We pick him up, and put him on the grass. Than it's ok and he will walk for 5 - 10 minutes. Since monday we bring him to the 'baby'sitter during daytime. She didn't know about the 'picking him up', so he didn't want to go out.. and peed in the house….:eek: ;)

Omg birdseed in the carpet for years!! that's just so excellent. =) Lycia never destroys things at home. Never. We have visited other's houses - she has been good. Then we stay at a new friend's place for 4 days and she manages to eat a pair of high heels, tupperware, 2 brushes, trash etc.. of course doing it to the roommates of my friend who I literally met that week… thank god they were forgiving, I was mortified.

@sharronhurlbut: We are doing a 10 hr drive to Id next week. The b's sleep and only want out when we stop for gas. I need to get out and walk the dogs because I get too stiff just sitting. Ah, old age! LMAO sharon…..the older I get, the more I realize the B's can often tolerate the long hauls better than this menopausal mom. :D

What part of AZ? We visit in late Feb to early march in Tucson. I've been to tucson when the monsoons hit in july/august so I'm quite familair with Az rain storms.

Exactly, lvoss…. anyone can breed just "because"... it is the right thing to do... IMO... NO.. it is not... people that breed need to have the right reasons... not just to have puppies to sell, because you need to be responsible for every single pup.. for its entire lifetime... and getting money for those pups is not the objective of a responsible breeder.

there are a lot of nice stuff reasonably priced on ebay. I've found a size medium or large will work.

@soulmate: Did not know that. But what for do you have to answer then the whole questions, when you register with the CPP? And yes, it would be helpfull, if you would be able to see in which country the B's are registered if they are not in the US. Regards, Esther Because CPP uses that data for other studies.

Sahara has not been in her crate since we got the underground fencing, she is Ok left in the den, kitchen where her bed is and water is left. My husband works night shift and I get home at 5:00 so it is pretty convienent. I took her out of the crate at about 6 mos. when we got the doggie door put in the kitchen. There were a few chewed up things in the beginning, but not anymore as a general rule. If she gets anything it is from surfing the kitchen counters, or my table top furniture. Just today she got my son's expensive sunglasses and ran out the doggie door b/c we were chasing her to get them. He was furious, but I said, "You left them were she could get them, it's not her fault". "You know she chews plastic, so don't you dare hit her or anything", he was so very mad. Sure, I get mad when she gets my prescription glasses, but IT IS NOT HER FAULT, I left them available to the keen eyes of a chew crazy basenji.

Leaving the US you shouldn't have a problem at all with that size of crate, they really don't care as long as the dog can stand up and looks comfortable. I know Europe is a whole different thing, I'm not sure what rules are in Switzerland, but I know for friends that traveled to Germany the dog need a hands width between the top of their head and the inside top of the crate when the dog is sitting. For the UK is completely different and no part of the dog can touch the top of the crate, another friend moved to the UK and she has a mini Snauzer (sp?) and she had to buy a crate for a small lab or golden retriever (the size 6 from the link you posted) because her Snauzer had cropped ears and even though she was leaving from the US, she was flying on British Airways they wouldn't allow this little 15 dog on the plane without haveing this huge crate. Your best bet is to call the veternairian that works for the aiport you're leaving from or the airline and ask them what the regulations are for flying with your pet. By your post it sounds like the ears can't touch the top, is this right?

That's funny. The other day I took EL D to the city park nearby and there's a couple of ponds. EL D was chasing after the frogs along the shore when we came to an area with less shore weeds. He went right around the weeds to get to the frogs as they came out the other side – yes you guessed it, he didn't realize the water was there (really shallow only a few inches). For just a few seconds he was still keyed on the frogs and didn't realized he was in the water. Then it was just like Colbey's reaction - OMG!
