Well, take care and get better. When you are up to it, the conversation can continue. For now, chicken soup, tea, lots of rest and follow doctor's orders.

Please post pics. Love to see Bs enjoying the snow! We had some snow last year. Having spent almost all of his life in sunny Southern California, Spencer was not impressed. Not one little bit!

I agree with Patty… it looks like they have known each other for a lifetime already! Isn't it wonderful when that happens? Such lovely girls! And I am so happy that your landlady has allowed you to have both of them. I think she deserves a wee Christmas gift. :D

Oh Barklessdog, you are a brave person. I must now stand with you in insane-solidarity and admit I bought it too. It is awful but when you get the line "we couldn't say goodbye so we took him home" part, you know you got to help support the woman. lol

Not someone here, pups breeder is Jordan Reed (who for a number of different reasons) is no longer breeding. He had very close ties with Fopaws Basenjis (Kevin and Therese, Therese who is here sometimes). Bred some very nice basenjis.

If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

I know people in Bucks county but not Chester area. Your time is getting short for boarding, so if it looks like that might be the only option, do it pretty quick. Glad to give you my old bucks county vet office who is superb but pet sitters in your area– I don't know of one. :(

I don't think it's a Basenji or even a mix.. only because according to AKC the first litter of Basenji puppies raised to maturity was in 1941, so it was a very new breed to our country at that time! It's a very cute dog regardless!! I can see where it can be mistaken for a Basenji mix with those adorable ears! I would love to see these pictures enhanced/in color. Very interesting find! =)

It's a very well-written article and I think it accurately describes the basenji's idiosyncrasies that we all know and love and that the average person would find frustrating. I think the take-home message for those who don't know basenjis is that they should educate themselves more before taking the "plunge". Personally, I was thrilled to see a b/w pictured. My only complaint is that the main cover dog wasn't a basenji!

My heart was racing, was sure they destroyed your computer. Glad just the phone, and sorry about your hand– but really nothing they do, nor any level of speed in doing it, surprises me. Demons. They really are.

I ended up getting some Bitter Apple spray and that has so far deterred them from trying to eat it again. Now if I could only get a jug of it for when I try to load the dishwasher…...

Although my experience with Basenjis is little, If Ayo is a typical basenji he definitely has an incredible drive to hunt. He will chase after anything that moves. I think he would make a great hunter and be excellent in lure coursing. I don't like hunting, and this really isn't the place for it either. But I have bben seriously considering getting a lure machine and trying to find some land where I could use it… As far as temperament is concerned, on our last show, just as the judge was approaching to check his teeth. Ayo sneezed! and the judge jumped back. He then approached again, realizing it was just a sneeze, but he told me that he had basenjis in the seventies and he jumped back cause he knew what they could do in a second!!!He was nice though, he really liked them, but was careful around them.I told him he had nothing to worry about. Although Ayo sometimes nips when he gets really excited, he has never bitten anyone or been aggressive towards anyone who approached him and he is great with children. I am not sure i understand why anyone would NOT want a dog with a nice temperament, but I can understand not wanting to loose that typical Basenji character!! By the way, Had never heard of Decker terriers , they look a lot like basenjis, especially the red and white ones!! Interesting breed....
