His coloring is a lot like a tri basenji, but whatever he is, he is a really nice looking dog. I have a mix also, mostly basenji in her traits, but lots of extra skin around her neck, much thicker than a true basenji weighing 33 lbs. If her legs were shorter I'd definitely say corgi - yours probably has corgi in him.

Good news I think. I had to go out today and left them, when I returned there was not an accident anywhere in the house. Keep by fingers crossed this week, but I think I will still play it safe and take them for a vet visit. I thank all for the advise..

Welcome to you and Snicker. I'm pleased that you said 'accident' - it's definitely not Snicker's fault. If you follow the advice gicven by previous posters you'll very soon have the perfect housetrained Basenji. They are generally very clean little creatures and in my opinion are the easiest dog to housetrain.

Welcome to the forum. I do see a tiny bit of G.S. in her body so maybe that was correct. Maybe the animal shelter gave you the wrong animal! Doesn't matter, you love her, she loves you.

A gentle obedience class will help you bond and learn to communicate. Glad he is going home with someone who will make him a good companion.

Adorable face - probably a devil in hiding :p If the biting is clearly play biting a firm NO should work (and see previous comments). If more serious then try bitter apple spray. You definitely want to stop this type before it gets out of hand. Mine (3 yrs old) occasionally will bite (gently and really just a mouthing) when trying to get my attention to play. But you can tell from her expression that she knows she did something unacceptable. Consistent training is the most important thing you could do.

I put a picture of my little Ella under forum section, Show Off your dog. Still not sure how to properly post pictures, but there is a thumbnail image there.

I welcome you also. Puppies are so adorable. Just remember a quiet Basenji is not necessarily a good thing. After all these years I still forget that one.
