We're active in B-rescue and enjoy sharing stories about our collective adventures with these amazing critters. Thanks for the suggestion, Patty M. Reply With Quote

We now have two relatively active b-girls, ages 16 and 15; their two brothers died in 2008 and 2010 at ages 15 and 16. We've been very fortunate and count our blessings every day the girls are with us.

Hi Greg. I can't tell you how happy I was to hear that Bunny was found. Every day I signed on to the forum, hoping for some good news.

I just joined this forum at the suggestion of Patty M. Have been a BRAT member since it was founded in the mid-'90's. We had four basenji siblings, a year apart, bred near Boulder CO where we used to live.

PLEASE visit www.basenjirescue.org and take a look at the current purebred basenji rescues availiable and ready for forever homes. We offer transport options where volunteers are availiable. I just recently flew a dog from Texas to Toronto, A plane ticket for $220.00 bought the dog climate controlled in cabin flight, and the adoption was a success. Please email me if you have any questions! BENDA4BRAT@YAH0O.COM

Welcome to the forum. I think Lark is a lovely name. Whatever she is you love her so it doesn't really matter. She looks a very interesting mix. She obviously needs quite a bit of attention given to her training. Lots of dogs don't get on with cats but with Basenjis it's easier when they grow up with them - it'll probably be harder work at Lark's age. Work especially hard on stopping the nipping as somebody could get hurt. Try to make sure you don't get her over excited - be calm around her and she'll learn to be calm around you.

Hello! I'm in Tx as well. I crate my Basenji (and my chiweenie for that matter.) I think it gives them a den/safe spot. Nayru can deconstruct any toy so far. The best one has been one of those loofah dog toys from PetSmart. That only just got destuffed. :) I just pick up fuzz a lot. She loves her beef bone for gnawing on as well.

@pennypen: We are attending our first event on Friday, Nov 26th in Decatur, TX and am excited to see her run her first practice run and see if she will be able to do a qualifying run. Super geeked! So i hope to meet more basenji owners in the area since every time i do see another i get so excited and Penny just goes nuts over fellow basenjis. I want to go to some lure coursing as well. I live in Austin with a rescue girl that I got from BRAT. :) Welcome to the forums.
