=) That sounds much like our place just not nearly as spacious. Well, they appear to have been calmer but they're probably just messing with my mind.

Yes, its not too early to get the trashcans locked up. However, you will only "forget" to p/u the items once. Laugh! The bad news is the dirty "items" can make the dog very sick. Running to the vet sick. The plastic alone is scary, what that can do to the internal workings of a b's tummy.

My boys, Aiken and Donge, are 8 months old now and today was probably the first day I didn't have to chase them away from something. Well, Aiken did steal some toilet paper from the trash can and run down the stairs while Donge ran guiltily to me. When I tell him, "Aiken, drop that!" He hurriedly drops it, but then runs to the door. He drops the wad he grabs and keeps a piece about the size of two quarters hidden within his mouth to play with when I'm not looking. The little brat!! Really though, They were really pretty calm besides the races through the house.

We just bought the tricky treat ball and she has not stopped playing with it for over 20 minutes, this thing is great. We had a buster ball before but it was made of hard plastic and was really loud. She loved orka toys when she was a puppy, but chews them up way too quickly now. She also loves Nylabones, especially the great big one that looks like a femur.

@Vanessa626: I have to run to the bedroom to get away! :o I'm always having to shoo Rocky away after showers! But get this! The other night he started to clean both my feet (no shower included!). He actually grabbed onto them with his fore-paws, laid over my shins, and spend the next half-hour licking my feet. He's never done that before. Talk about weirding me out!

Our puppy was out in the house one time when we came home and I wondered if maybe I had not had the hasp lined up when I shut it, but maybe she did figure out how to open it. Now, she says outside with the other dogs (well, they actually can come into the laundry room as well) and is only in the crate essentially for feeding so I have not found out if she can do it again.

I have a friend who swears by her Walkydog, takes her basenji for 6-8 mile rides when it is cooler. It evidently unclips easily if your dog needs a pit-stop. I'm afraid any one of my 3 would drag me to my death if attached to me on a bike. Anne in Tampa

Champ doesn't like it when I sing to someone other than him. If I snuggle with someone he'll try to come between us or pulls on my shirt. But when my daughter comes back from a long weekend away he'll get very excited and pull on her and also nip. This was a big problem we had before with our daughter but we began doing the treat thing. When she would wake up in the am she would tell him to sit and calm down and then she will give him a treat. She also started walking him on the leash and feedng him. We started showing him that she was an alph just like mommy and daddy and needed to be respected. On occasion when he does not relax and nip or pulls on her shirt, we'll use the empty can.

@felakuti: I wonder where the light golden eyes come from…our brindle is from the african project, cayote? jackel? There are a number of different basenji lines that have "light" eyes, both domestic and from the Af project, but the standard for all basenjis is dark eye

@DiegosMom: well it was runny weeks ago, thats when we went to the vet, and now its starting up again. same exact bag of food to answer your question.. the stool sample is at the vets right now.. i have to call in 15 minutes to get the results.. thanks for everyones help! What size bag do you ususally buy? Reason that I ask is sometimes one bag of food could be "off"… the food that is naturally preserved can either be a bit bad to begin with or go off after opened. I have had this happen over the years off and on with all different kinds of food. Usually when this happens I get a new bag and see it the problem resolves itself and if it does it would be just about immediate. Could be too that your boy has food allergies... or if Giarida (spelling) regardless of the stool sample can still be present. You could try taking him off dog food totally and feeding boiled ground turkey and brown rice. Boil the turkey in water and drain and mix with rice (you can add garlic powder for some flavor) and see if this makes a difference
