we also do not have any TP Fairies ususally. Yesterday I forgot to take a roll of TP with me as I needed it to clean up behind the puppies and I left it on the coffee table. Well, Panda trained her skills on that issue. But usually ours prefer napkins which strangers have lost outside and they eat them totally…. Regards, Esther

@Gabriel: Yesterday on another thread I read how someone takes a squirt bottle of water and does a quick spray when she bites and then says no. I tried that on noel and it worked perfect. I just have to grab that bottle and she goes and lays down. She hasn't bitten me once today. I know it will take more than one evening to train her not to bite but I will be patient. The problem with this method is that Noel will not learn to soften her bite so if she ever does bite it will probably be with full force and result in serious injury. Though it takes longer to train, it is much better especially with young children in the house to use the method described in the link given in the other thread.

Whenever we love on Sahara with hugging, kissing her sweet face, cuddling, she will immediately get up and shake it off. It is so funny, it's like she is saying I love you guys but please I am only a Basenji, not your baby. Maybe she understand when we call her, Our Baby Girl, hehe!!!!!:D

For me, reading the threads makes me think that I must have the least destructive Basenji. We can leave him free in the house for up to 4 hours alone and he will barely even touch the toys we leave out for him (not even my slippers!). With his new companion we are hoping to give him a little more freedom without losing too many possessions.

mine love ice too, but not as much as aerosol whipped cream! They come running when they hear the ice and the sound of the whipped cream shooting out of the can!!

They may not be very familiar with breeds. I agree with Robyn he looks all Rat Terrier to me. Keep in mind that the Rat Terrier breed does have some basenji blood in it and some have a strong resemblance to basenjis.

I got my package on Monday!!! :) I haven't had time to update but Dallas loved all of his gifts! He loved the loofa dog! He was carrying it all around the house with him Monday evening. He & our family dog have been playing tug of war with the rope that he received. Oh, and Tuesday he found the bag of milkbones on my dresser while I was at work…thankfully he didn't eat the plastic bag  The bones, obviously, are gone. Such a pig

Yep! Sakari [part JRT / B] took pizza out of our grandson's hand while he was eating!! And Bisa … well she got food from our youngest GD's hands! When I have food I look at Bisa and I say "NO THIS IS MINE!" She looks at me like ... "We'll see about THAT!" LOL

@tanza: Amen to that Kellie…. and put them in your lap and then show people.. sorry... they do shed.. but that it is not as much as many other breeds... gggg.... And of course, most Basenjis are not "lap dogs" so… when you put this noisy, somewhat shedding dog in their laps they quickly find that it is wiggling and squirming to get down...

@Terry: Zoe is only 1/2 Basenji and does bark. But she also has a strange sound I'm not sure about. It's a strange yell. Is that a Basenji howl? It almost sounds human. Does it sound like a combination of car tires screeching to a halt, fingernails scraping down a chalkboard, and a woman being bludgeoned to death? If so, welcome to the infamous Basenji scream, hehe.

Thank you all for the kind words but you are giving us way to much credit. True our last pooch ( Marleyjo ) died suddenly from brain cancer. She was a Fanconi dog that we treated for many years ( more than 7 years ). The day after her passing we found this group and it helped us remember all the wild and trying times we spent with "The Mo". You all helped us smile again. We volunteered with BRAT and were immediately contacted by Sharron. We wanted to donate time and $$$ to help us grieve. We were hesitant to foster knowing we would probably keep everything we fostered. After hearing Shebas story ( starting in a puppy mill in Modesto in 2001 ) and knowing she would take some work and money to get her back to health we had to try or feel guilty for not even attempting. We are VERY lucky. Flexible work schedules. Quiet one story house. Travel frequently with our previous dog. Sheba came to us already potty trained and totally trusting. No behavioral issues that normally come with rescue dogs. Just health and handicap stuff. We could hold her and bathe her and hug her and squeeze her and spoil her. To this day she has not grumbled once. So thank you again for ALL of the kind words and accolades but we were truly just VERY lucky and were inspired by all of you crazy Basenji people. Hopefully we will get several more good years with her and I promise to keep you all up to date on our adventures. She has already spent several weeks traveling the west coast and we plan to continue for years to come. [image: attachment_p_62240_0_img_2235.jpg]

My 15 year old Lab wants to devour my sons parakeet. He went after the lovebirds too when we had them. My mom has a ****zu that ate 3 of her love birds. The cats never had a problem with the birds. They'd walk around the house with birds on their backs like it was no big deal. The Macaw I used to have was a different story. He wanted to eat the cats, but didn't mind the dog even though the dog was scared ****tless of him.
