Dash will go around our fence pushing it out with his nose to find the weak spots and then escape. He also will sabbotage the leash so when we walk him it has just enough material to look like it will hold him and then it snaps and he is off like a bat out of hell. He did it this weekend. I forgot to check and we were at a gas station in Nelsonville. Thank God he comes when called.

@Gooby: There's also this one: When your humans take you out, poop twice. Rest assured, they only brought one bag. Oh how true …

I think I saw Sophie on a b video website and I was so glad that someone else's B made that noise I showed it to my husband and daughter. Thanks for posting that video because as a new B owner we thought we had some kind of devel dog!!! She does it the most to our oldest dog Josie. There are nights she even does it from under our covers in bed when she hears Josie moving out in the living room. Too Funny!!!!

:D :D :D Just went though this with EL D – especially the part about snuffling through the dirt pile I was just getting ready to sweep into the garbage. Then there's the "hey wait, don't throw that away, I still want it" part where he drags something disgusting out of the garbage before I can get it out the door. And vacuuming -- ha -- it's "let's play chicken with this beast" (luckily EL D never goes after the cords) and almost knocking stuff over trying not to get hit. :D :D :D

We have three. The second we got to have a playmate for our first and the third we got because we fell in love with his pic on BRAT (I am no longer allowed to go to the BRAT website ,,,,lol). Three is definately challenging but they all get along most of the time and have given us endless hours of laughter and joy (as well as some very frustrating times!). If I had it to do over again I would definately do everything the same. Just make sure you have the time and resources for a 2nd b. Our first has had some vision problems and the others have to be vetted periodically and it can get a little expensive. Also, with two and three it almost takes two sets of eyes to keep track of them sometimes. One last tip,,,,if you do get a second ,,,baby gates are a must to keep them corraled!

Mine just sleep also. When I stop for gas, they awaken and we take them out to potty. Otherwise, no stops…. they sleep the whole time, really.

@BasenjiDiva: Cory always sounds like she's using profanity when she gets that way. Pat That would be Kristii but add in a little "spitting" with it…

They are the perfect dog, fast, scent & sight hound, pointer and really smart- all of which can make a challenging pet or the best hunting dog you could own.

When my husband and I got togeather, Dakota, my first b, would nip him if he moved the slightest bit during the night. One night at 3:00a.m. they finally had it out. Hubby pushed him off the bed, Dakota jumped back up growling. They went back and forth for at least 15 minutes. Dakota finally sat on the floor for a few minutes then jumped back up, curled up and went to sleep. He never nipped him again.

When my husband left for a week our b Trixie went absolutely bonkers!!! I thought I was going bonkers as well. She chewed up our carpet in our dining room (we now have hard wood floors) and in our bedroom and she went from window to window crying and looking for him. One night we made the mistake of putting the phone to her ear and he talked to her and that really upset her. He actually cut his trip short by a couple days just to get home to see his baby!! Thank god!! Hope he does'nt leave any time soon! She does love her daddy!!!!!

my mother-in law is visiting and trixie who usually is good for one baroo every morning has not done it since she arrived. She has however done her tazmanian or devil talk and my mother-in-law was scared!! We laughed and removed Trixie to our bedroom. It was obviously past her bedtime!! lol

When we got married I was the dog enthusiast. We had always had dogs when I was growing up. DH grew up with a pet box turtle! So for most of our married life, the dogs were mine. However, DH has wanted a basenji for years and he is totally smitten with Cory. In fact, he is the one that told me that he thought that Cory was lonely and we should consider getting a second basenji to keep her company. THIS from a man who made me promise several years ago that we'd never own two dogs at once again. Pat

We Have Leather And No Chewing But Our B Likes To Dig In The Corners So It Has Become A Little Scratched. We Try To Keep Baby Blankets Around For Her To Curl Up In. I Think The Scratching Is From Her Burying Her Toys, Chew Bones And Other Surprises All Over The House And She Can't Remember Where They Are.

Ninabeana – I'm echoing ChaseandZahra and others here but TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS on this because the p.b. certainly will pick up on them. Have your brother contact the pitbull rescue societies as well as the military support groups. It's tough I know.

The only sweat glands on a dog are on the feet. They keep their foot pads supple, but also sent mark the trail. I actually like the way goober smells. Probably because I grew up with a dish called Frito and Chili pie. My old dog Missy had the standard stinky dog smell which I wasn't too fond of, but I didn't hate it enough to give her a bath more than once a month. I wonder if th

EL D is kind of like that. Not exactly camera shy. As soon as he hears me turn on the camera he starts to act up and won't sit nice or else shoves his nose in the camera. I've only got a few really decent pictures of him. :(
