Have you ever noticed that they smell more when they are sleepy?
YES!! its even better when they are sleepy.. my boyfriend LOVES smelling rocky.. i think its when they get warm..
the puppy just has stinky puppy food breath and thats all we smell on her.. lol
My B, Sahara does not have dog odor except when she goes out and lays in the sun. Today when she came in from a sun nap she smelled really strong. It is not a good smell either and I usually give her a bath when she gets too strong. I think it is the oils that are in her skin that come to the surface of her hair that does it, when she comes back in I can see that her hair is glistenning.
One of Ruby's many nicknames is "the corn chip kid". The name "frito bandito" is reserved for the boy we'll be adding in March. So it will be, the frito bandito and the corn chip kid.
Barkless is right…the smell is from the feet. And because Ru sleeps in a ball with her head on her feet, her head has the smell on it when she wakes up. I love it.
Way better than stinky fish/dog smell at least it does not stink up your house.
Someone I know had a large dog, whom I will not name, whose house stunk of dog so bad when you went over.
It was as bad as a dog who barks non- stop. Basenjis do have a lot of redeeming qualities.
I'm not sure of others here but I can't stand dogs who bark constantly. It hurts my ears (another reason I refuse to kennal my dogs, why put then through that)
When I first got our dogs I told my neighbor they did not bark and he gave me a look like what good are they (protection house) ?
People are terrified of the dogs (UPS man, delivery men, meter readers). They don't need to bark.
Back to the smelly feet. I wonder if this is natures way of marking their trail. When you watch them in the snow tracking other dogs, they smell the foot prints. The feet must leave some scent residue?
I'm pretty sure the feet do leave some sort of scent behind. Sometimes Senji sniffs the ground and then kicks up some grass with his hind legs. It looks like he's wiping his feet on a doormat.
The only sweat glands on a dog are on the feet. They keep their foot pads supple, but also sent mark the trail.
I actually like the way goober smells. Probably because I grew up with a dish called Frito and Chili pie.
My old dog Missy had the standard stinky dog smell which I wasn't too fond of, but I didn't hate it enough to give her a bath more than once a month.
I wonder if th
