    :eek: Well this weekend we went to stay with some family out in the suburbs and my B loved it. They have a huge back yard to play in and the kids love him. Well one of the kids left the gate opened and when I heard our B escaped, I rushed out to grab him and then I heard a yell from my niece that he had crosses the street and ran into someone's opened front door. :eek: I couldn't believe it, I rushed in and there he was strolling through the house like owned that place. I scooped him up and gave thousands of apologies. I'm just thankful a car did not come and also glad he did not nip anyone. Believe me those kids got an earful. If you love your furry cousin, you better make sure the gate is locked. Needless to say that the rest of the day I was all eyes on the B. Funny story though now that all is O.K.:cool:

    We'd had Keoki for one day before he found a space in the gate that he could squeeze through. I had just told my 16 yo daughter that he'd found it, and I was going in the house, so she needed to watch extra carefully and keep him away from that part of the yard.

    Within five minutes the yells came, "The puppy's out!" Grrrrrr
    Fortunately, he was only investigating the neighbor's back yard. The kids got an earful, and dh fixed the problem that night.

    Looks like you are out of luck. Basenji's are escape artists. Could use your 3 ft wall and then build a 4 ft behind it only 2 ft apart??? Put a port hole in the inner fence so it can return to you side of the yard. stafford morse

    If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

    $2000.00 for astro turf!!! Wow! I've seen that short green carpet which looks like grass and that works really well. I don't think its called astro turf though since it is much shorter. You can find it at camping stores or even Home Depo. Its not really that expensive and it is easy to clean with a hose.

    Owning a basenji requires a good sense of humor and a large dose of patience and a willingness to do some creative thinking to convince the basenjis what you want is really the same thing as what they want. So true, never a dull moment with these dogs

    Hollie will hide her treats and her dog food. Her favorite hiding place is under MY pillow in the bed. She has tried to hide her entire food bowl by pushing one of her plush toys with her nose in an attempt to get the toy on top of her food bowl. Why doesn't she just use her mouth to pick it up and place it on the bowl? Silly dog!

    Yes, the tape works great, but I think I know what rubber brush you mean. My sister has a broom like that - she got it at an Equine Affair in MA one year. It works great. Gets all the hair up when she sweeps. She's got a black Aussie/Golden mix - can you say HAIR??!!! I don't think I could handle it…LOL!
