Camera Shy B??

Basenji Talk
  • If I point the camera ANYWHERE near meeka she turns her head and buries it in whatever she can! If i keep trying she keeps turning her head away, or eventually just runs away. Its so funny, but at the same time i want some good pics of her!! I didnt know dogs could be camera shy.. anyone have a camera shy B??

I caught her offguard and got one of her! I think she just woke up and didnt know I was trying to take a picture!

  • Do you use the flash when you snap her photos?
Maybe it's the light – try taking pics w/out the flash a few times.

Maybe even click the camera and give her a treat. You may wind up getting really cute perked up photos {eventually} if she thinks that clicking noise means FOOD!

  • Oh - yeah– and this is an adorable photo!

  • Didn't know if was even possible with Basenji's… My dogs are camera whores! ;)

  • Ruby is camera shy…I swear she runs away when the camera comes out. Unfortunately for her, I finally got a digital camera for Christmas:D :D.

I think I only have a few pics of her that actually look like her because most of the time she turns her head or does something funny with her face because she doesn't like the camera.

  • She may be camera shy, but that is a cute picture and she is a pretty girl…what we can see of her! :D

  • EL D is kind of like that. Not exactly camera shy. As soon as he hears me turn on the camera he starts to act up and won't sit nice or else shoves his nose in the camera. I've only got a few really decent pictures of him. :(

A campsite would be good for them to roam around. When we take on vacation, I also make sure to visit any local pet cafe so they could eat food we usually don't cook.

Definitely looks like a basenji to me. If it was something like a lab, they would be in the pool hogging the space.

I'll second that.. being 5 ft myself, having a bunch of ppl who are sig. taller stand all about you can be very abrasive.

A coupple of issues in this thread! (Way to multi-task here people!) Treats: the whole "upset tummy" is definately a too much of a good thing issue. Whatever you decide to treat with, make them very small and just watch how much you give. My dogs go nuts for bologna or plain ham. Cheese is the perenial favorite, but never underestimate the power of a "Good Boy!!" Coats & "Cold" Weather: My boys have it rough. Living in the Midwest, it is not uncomming to spend all witner in the single digits (not counting windchill which often kicks us into the negative teens, if not worse). Both boys have dog coats made by Lands End in the same style (and cold weather specifications) as their Squall jacket series. It consists of an easy belly band and front chest closure meathod. No worries about tails or legs. Easy on, easy off. And my boys live in them during the winter. Dogs, just like people, quickly acclimate to the weather. If we deicde it's "Cold" at 50 degrees, they start to feel that way. If we decide 50 is downright balmy, the dogs learn that too. Walking: Oh, the perenial issue of B's! I agree with many of the posters here: it's all in the tone and your attitude. If you decide to be upbeat and positive and decisive, the B will follow! (But probably will quit at mile 6 if he hasn't had his ice cream yet… grin)
