Oh! He's just beautiful!! I had a huge GSD 30 some odd years ago named Hubble and he was a great dog. Good name.

Super pictures of the two of them. The stem cell injectiobns seem a great help with the hips. I'm not sure that it is done here. I must find out. You have a right to gush about Kipawa - he's a lovely boy.

@sharronhurlbut: Very cute, but the b sure did get dog drool in his back. Shaye also loves playing with the big dogs - if they aren't paying attention to her she annoys them until they chase her, and it's all fun and games from that point - and my b definitely has to be sprayed off before we leave the dogpark, because she usually is coated with dog drool on her head, neck and back. Her favorite two friends are an 18 month old female Rhodesian Rideback named Charlie (a girl) and a 2 year old doberman named Ruthie - sometimes they play together and ignore Shaye, then she tries to break them up and they are a very unevenly matched threesome running after each other. Fun to watch.

I was thinking that for a second.. but I named her Dolce after my brother.. I mentioned why in a previous thread but ill give u a quick lil little overview. He is going away to Afghanistan soon and I wanted to have something to remind me of him. He used to repeat this one sentence " its a dolce" with a funny accent and it annoyed the crap out of me but I ended up just enjoying it after so much annoyance haha! Also I like this Italian phrase "la dolce vita" which means "the sweet life" or "the good life". I guess it wasn't as quick of an overview as I thought.

Yep– you did fine and I left you his email. They smell like what they are-- salmon. Since I love salmon I don't mind. The bad part is they know where I have them in a closed plastic storage box and Cara got ON THE KITCHEN TABLE trying to get to the shelf, lol. They last about as long as the chicken jerky treats but I am giving the a big one. I have not used the chips yet (they are about 2 inches to 3 inches square). The big ones they tear pieces off, crunch, swallow and on to next piece. I wouldn't know how they smell wet as by then they are down the gullet, lol. I guess I should video them eating one. Arwen just goes into ecstasy.

@Lysh: I LOL'd at the thought of taking the dogs through the car wash, had to watch that video. I am going to have to try this now. :) It's kind of anticlimactic. They are so calm! But better than being completely freaked out. So we'll call it environmental stimulation, heh.

    Shaye's MomS
@Kananga: He manages to keep them short on his own. Probably due to how stubborn he is on walks at times (really digs into the asphalt/concrete). . My girl Shaye is the same - - she's now 3, and I'm trying the Gentle Leader. Her "sister" Gemma is settling into it quite nicely, not pulling any more - Shaye still throws herself on the ground, digs her face into the dirt, lays down and won't get up - won't pee or poo on walks - obviously it's going to take longer for her to decide to just cooperate with it. She will or she won't, I can't have her digging and pulling constantly, my hands are nearly useless from it.

Me too! I THINK the last girl and the tri girl will have stand up ears cuz they are a LOT smaller than the rest. Still floppy atm but very small petite ears on them.

I do so agree with you. I can't imagine my life without basenjis, we have 2 p/b and my African import, Wheat, who is just a village dog. BUT she is OUR village dog! laugh

Thanks everyone! We couldn't be happier, he is everything we could have asked for! Still training for the therapy route, but we certainly won't force it on him if he isn't enjoying it. He wants a sister…I mean WE want him to have a sister :)... but we're probably going to hold off another couple years before doing so! Especially since we may possibly be moving in the next year or so.
