@Voodoo: I would never put a puppy 8 hours in a bench without water!! If they are thirsty, he should be able to drink! That may work for you in Belgium, but a dog can live without water for 8 hours, as can a human. What goes IN must come OUT. Giving them the water and expecting them to hold it at such a young age is a set-up for failure. If they learn to not pee in the crate because they don't have water… they will learn that the crate stays dry and it is nice to have a dry crate. Perhaps you have trained more puppies than me... but this works. Period. I have done this many many many times and the dogs don't have an issue with it.

I have had that same situation with Ayo,only with him it's usually with large dogs. we only have one area at the park here, all together, small dogs and big dogs. When he goes in he always chooses one big dog , runs up to him and starts growling. Sometimes he stops very quickly, or the other dog growls back and it stops or it escalates , usually because the other dogs owner freaks out. He is fine around small dogs. And I am pretty sure that he is fine with most dogs, that if I leave them they will work it out, but I'm afraid to let it play out because bigger dogs can really hurt him, and also because usually the other owner freaks and intervenes making everything worse. Sooo, Ayo has started to get a bit of a rep.. The basenji rep!! I usually wait till only small dogs are in…

His half sister Lulu just recently redecorated her owners bedroom via the comforter. Her owner said, 5 years is too old for a comforter so Lulu was right to think it needed replacing. She signed it Lulu and her cohort incrimg (oops design assistant) Sonny and her mom who gets to shop for a new comforter and her dad who gets to pay for it. Thank goodness his litter sister Lyric has stuck to destroying toys. Therese

I've used an xpen for lots of things: a) area for a puppy before they were potty-trained (big enough to include a crate an litter box) b) outside dog containment unit for picnics, lure course events, spending time outdoors on the deck up North. It's great because they can hang out with all the people but are safely contained. c) I block off all of the areas of the basement we don't want the dogs, and d) and on top of that created a dog-training area in the basement that is pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. You can only see a part of it in the picture, but it is a 12x12 area in the basement, that I recently expanded to a larger area. That is the cool thing about xpens, they are pretty adaptable to a lot of spaces. [image: 5686009984_d7a8eb3baa.jpg]

Google Gazehounds in TX. They do straight and oval racing in the Mckinney, TX area. We come down occasionally for their NOTRA meets. They are having an oval race this weekend if you would like to atttend and watch I can send you directions. We will not be there this time as I'm having surgery Monday and need to take a couple weeks off. Where in TX is Pearland? We do lure coursing in Hutto, Waller and Cat Springs, but the season is at and end now. Will pick up again at the end of Sept which would be a good time for your girl to try some practice runs. There are lots of nice non basenji people in the clubs who will help you train her. Get a good recall on her now, puppy training classes would help for that.

Oh hard stacking Zest in the show ring was always a major PITA. You could pick a foot up, but then she was NOTNOTNOT going to put that foot down. You could put it down for her, but it would spring right back up. Digital the brindlewonderkid would never put a foot wrong in the show ring, easy to stack, wonderful to gait (all I ever had to do was just hold on to the other end, literally, and he'd trot out to the end of the leash), but he would do it all 1/2 asleep. For some reason judges like to see alert looks on the dogs' faces. Ah well, best to have a sense of humor.

Thanks, I didn't even look at the link in it full pasted format. It was sent to me in an unusual format not just pasted into the message which is why I wasn't sure it would work. Thanks for adding the link on its own. Therese
