• Oh I'm so sorry to hear this… you did everything you could and he is free of pain now...

  • I am so sorry, I wish I had the words to make things better for you. El D was a very loved B and he loves you very much.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • I'm so, so sorry. I read the post last night, but was at work and couldn't offer condolences then. I know this has been a struggle for you and was very quick. My heart breaks for you.

  • So sorry for your lost!

  • Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support (and Phoenix for the poem). My vet and the folks at the university hospital were just great and very helpful. It is tough.

  • We are so so so sorry for your loss. I hope with all my heart you can mourn and heal and cherish everything you had together. We are with you.

  • Our thoughts are with you and El D. Words seem too small for situations like these. He was a wonderful friend, and he will be missed.

  • Anita,
Soon you will remember only the good and fun times with El D…. when I let Maggii go (granted it, it was due to old age, but she was my heart dog) it was very hard to think of her without crying and missing her. But as the months passed, we remember only the fun times and the love that she gave us...

  • Anita, I am so very sorry. Your loss is heartbreaking! I was hoping against hope that El D would pull through, but he had a dreadful diagnosis. Hold your many wonderful memories of El D tight in your heart, they will help you through these next difficult weeks. As Pat said, in months to come, you will be abel to think of him and smile without tears. We all cry with you, till then.

  • I'm so sorry to hear this. Additional words fail me. Virtual hugs and prayers to you.

  • I am so sorry. Thank you for sharing El D with us.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss… Thanks for sharing EL D's adventures with us... When my 1st basenji, Casey, went to Rainbow Bridge last year due to liver cancer, the one phrase that got me through was, "...It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all…" Hope you can find some comfort with this as well...

  • Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is so difficult to lose such a good friend…

  • I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you, but don't worry you will see El D again. All our journeys will meet in the end.

  • Wizard,

I am at a loss for words regarding your loss! I have attached a poem that someone sent me when my Indy boy walked over the rainbow bridge. I hope you gives you some comfort…

    I am Still Here

I stood by you, by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
    “It’s me, I haven’t left you, I‘m well. I’m fine. I’m here.”
I was close to you at breakfast. I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today. You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I’m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said, “It’s me.”
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me to be so near you everyday
to say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew.
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning
and say, “Goodnight, God Bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out … then come home to be with me.

  • Oh, no. This is so sad.

I can't imagine what anyone could say today to take away your tears. But its true the time will come when all the memories are sweet.

Goodbye, El D. Rest in peace, good Boy.

  • Thanks again for all the kind words and support. It's truly sad and yes hard, but because of my faith, there's also something to look forward to.

Also some good news - look for another thread by me.

  • My heart is breaking for you. I am so sorry to hear about El D.

I'm sure he is having a great time over rainbow bridge with all of our animals who have passed.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. 😞
