It's getting so the new year starts out looking like the old year :( I'm already late with this.
Happy new year and wishes for all good things to all my basenji friends :)
I may take you up on that - if I can't get in where I typically stay and am familiar with. I've stayed in a couple of dives that I'd not care to return too.
Seems like even if it's 'high' season - I should be able to risk waiting until I get there to see what the weather is like - I could go down to Fort Myers - I did that once before when it was too rainy and gloomy in Tampa area.
I may just get one night somewhere certain and then just decide when I get there. Doesn't bother me much but hubby is a bit less willing to risk it.
We had a lovely day with family and friends. Cory got a new coat and enjoyed a big bone in her crate while we all opened gifts. The crate was by the fireplace and she had a good vantage point without being tempted to assist in the unwrapping of gifts. She hadn't ever seen a fire in the fireplace before and wasn't too sure about it at first. (We don't get too many chances in coastal Georgia to justify building a fire.) We hope everyone's Christmas was as good.

When my middle son and wife come to visit - they bring their 2 labs. I let the labs be loose in the house and kennel my basenjis - can't imagine the basenji 500 with 2 huge labs in a small house. As folks get older though the dogs can be an issue so don't know how much longer I'll be able to let them come. This Thanksgiving - 2 labs and 2 mature ladies with walkers was interesting.
However when we would go and visit my husbands family - could never bring dogs - they refused to have dogs in the house - ever.
I agree with whoever said - their house their rules.
I saw this show for the first time last night. I didn't think it was sad, because the nice doggy gets adopted into a home where the people have been evaluated and dog is placed with people who are best suited for the individual dog. It's like a reality game and they all know only one home gets the dog. The people know they might not get that dog. But I'm glad that the people who don't win on the show, will probably adopt and rescue another well deserving dog. Just my take . . . but I only saw the one show.
@DiegosMom:
thanks! clears up my confusion! at first when i saw someone using it i thought it was the initials of their husband or wife or something, then i saw other people using it, and i was confused.. but now i get it!
I had to ask what it meant too DM, I had no clue either.:D
So happy to see you posting again Arti!:D :D :D :D :D Glad you are at home.
I hope your husband gets out of the hospital soon.
Heal quickly, we miss your great dogs and beautiful pictures.:cool:
T&D, glad to see that I wasn't alone. Of course once the HD guy left the rain was starting to sprinkle.
Jill, your day made me tired just reading I think you just help me justify my nap I took this afternoon!
@WBL:
LMAO @ the pumpkins, good boy Lenny
I'm glad you're in and getting settled into the new place.
Exactly…glad you're in your new place and that is too funny that Lenny marked them on his way out...love it!
What a bummer Deb :( So sorry you are going thru that with your girls…I so feel your pain....
And hugs going out to you for all the other rough stuff you have had going on too.
I do rescue, so I do like spay/neuter, but these folks who are breeding for aggressiveness won't pay any attention to any of the laws that are passed.
However, putting them in jail should get their attention.
Pits are a good dogs but can be bred into a fighting dog.
Basenjis are now good breeds, but anyone who has done rescue, or owned a "damaged" basenji knows they will bite and that can do damage!
We need to put the responsiblity on the bad owners who breed for fighting dogs or even the BAD breeders who breed defective dogs and know it, and sell them anyway.
Puppy lemon law anyone???
That shouldn't hurt the good breeders who have "something" come up, but the breeders who consistantly have sick/bad dogs…
Just a thought.
