OK, I take it all back, we have decided to keep Baroo. He deserves another chance, and a fair one, so I'm going to commit to training him and walking him and take it from there. I will be starting another post, and don't want to repost everything here, so if you want to know more see the other post. I have just decided he is worth a second chance.

There are also a few B's in Virginia right from BRAT if your friend is interested in any of those I can transport to Philly - my sister lives there and I make trips up as much as I can.

We were able to pickup Tyson from Kelli and brought him home on Monday. His new buddies Chevy (Tri-female) and Chase (RW-male) are beginning to accept Tyson into our home. Chase has no problem but Chevy is very protective of us and very bitchy toward Tyson. After two days she is getting better. Chase he doesn't care he just goes with the flow. The first night was interesting but we made it through. Our B's sleep in our bed and Chevy wasn't too happy about having to share with Tyson. She doesn't bother him when they are outside together it is mostly inside our house which she is very protective. I have attached a picture of all them together.

These two boys are still available and they really need new homes. They are 8 1/2 months old now and are very healthy. They get along great together and could be rehomed as a pair or they can go seperately. Both boys possess excellent trainability and would make outstanding performance prospects. The temperature is cool enough to consider shipping.

Great news everyone my Brother and sister in law just E-mailed me. They were planning to get Benny out and foster… called the shelter early today and Benny has been adopted. He has a family now!
I told them about Benny yesterday when I saw the post BDawg put up because they are not to far from that shelter. I'm so happy he was not put down.

You could also check with some of the breeders in So. Cal, they might have a "x" show dog that they are looking to place or a return pup….. you can find breeders at www.basenji.org and then go to the breeder directory…..

Thanks for the site.. We are looking to adopt an older B (or two). I read over the info, we are adopting for those reason exactly. We not get as many years with them but it is quality not quanity as tough as that maybe when the time comes. You can't live your life thinking about the END!

When I did rescue for BRAT - I didn't even charge anthing for expenses. When I"ve done rescue for BCOA or just because a basenji needed a new home - I've only charged anything if there were unique circumstances. I do take a 'deposit' of somewhere between 100 - 200. and place on a 2-3 week trial - if it works I return the money. I sometimes suggest a donation to a rescue organization.

If I was doing LOTS of rescue though and had lots of expenses for health and transport - I would have to charge.

I just laugh that a 'high volumn breeder' that I see her website - charges 3 times what the rest of us reputable breeders charge for her pets - oh well that's how it goes.
