No easy way to say this … EL D left this morning and crossed the rainbow bridge. I was there before he left and told him how glad I was that he had chosen me to be his pal.
He had been in an oxygen cage the last couple days and the doctors kept having to up the oxygen content. It was going to get worse they said and his chances were really pretty slim.
God told me he could cure him and I needed to let him go so ... -
Oh, I am so sorry. I thought for sure . . .
I don't know why these pups leave us so soon. Take care of yourself.
El D, there are lots of dogs we all miss over there. Tell them hello for us. We will all miss you.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support (and Phoenix for the poem). My vet and the folks at the university hospital were just great and very helpful. It is tough.

Soon you will remember only the good and fun times with El D…. when I let Maggii go (granted it, it was due to old age, but she was my heart dog) it was very hard to think of her without crying and missing her. But as the months passed, we remember only the fun times and the love that she gave us...
