When my guys were pups I would get on the floor on all fours and pretend to be a dog. Waggle my butt, take my hand(paw) and tap the dog on the head, scoot around on the floor etc.. My guys loved it. They must have though I was crazy, but the ran around and over and under me. I would sometime incorporate a toy and we would "share". Do watch out if your guy is a nipper and discourage that. If my boy would nip or get mouthy I used "ouch" command loudly and stop play.

Pippin only uses his when we are outside, he has a cowbell on it so he is heard should he go in and disappear in the brush..but for indoors it is nice to not have a collar on.. When he was younger (he is 17 wks now) I did have it on him all the time..wanted him to get used to wearing it and thought taking it off often might prolong the "getting used to it" part..

LOL well she probably liked it better when I took her, but if not, oh well… lol. Also, btw, the neighbors said their dog's name was Sarah. I thought, how sweet. Til I found out why... it was short for "Midnight Serenade" ... which she did and you could hear even if she was in the house lol.

OMG, pls. let us know how Benny is doing after all those bites… If I were you, I would still report the incident to the police or Animal Control... It doesn't matter if you don't know who the owner is...This would establish history and should the owner be identified, then there's documentation that the proper authorities can look back to... Also, you said you've seen this pit bull before... If you see that dog again, maybe you can observe it (from a safe distance, of course) and maybe he'll lead you to its home... But safety (your safety) is priority one... Just my $0.02...

Isis is darling! By all means do a 'well baby' visit with your vet, and order the DNA swab for fanconi, huge peace of mind. I had a wonderful Isis many years ago, I love the name!

:( Tahat is so sad. Sayblee used to baroo a lot, but when my husband came home she ALWAYS barooed for him. I could be gone longer, and she wiggled and was ecstatic to see me, but I sure couldn't count on a baroo. :( LOL maybe you can click & treat the barooing for your mom and teach her to do it on command? Signed: Also chopped liver

Congo has his collar on in the house unless we are sleeping. I have two roommates and I am always afraid that he might zip out the door when they do. His collar is always on the loosest notch and he could easily get out of it if it gets caught on something.

Cara has TRIED to activate the ice maker. She flies into the kitchen when she hears me use it because she loves to play soccer with ice, then eat it. I fear one day I'll have to put some kind of guard over the panel. Sigh.

She had a lump, but it has disappeared. I guess the constant running and skidding across the wooden floors has massaged it away… She's back to herself now, which is so good. I had to wrap her in a blanket (burrito-style) so that I could sleep last night. Husband got home at midnight and accidently rescued her... he was up for another hour trying to tire her out. ...then he woke me up to re-burrito wrap her. We barely slept.

I've decided on the name Faithful. It's the name of a cat in one of the series by Tamora Pierce, great read btw if ya like young adult fantasy type. Just didn't want a name bunches of pets might have like Mojo.

sigh Poor little basenjis. :( This makes me all the more happier that I bought from a great breeder (FoPaws) who made sure I knew about the breed and who stressed returning Kipawa for any reason should things not work out (sorry Therese and Kevin, you'll never get him back! :) ). And kudos to Sharron and everyone here who patiently answered all of my questions for almost a year, prior to me getting Kipawa. With FoPaws and all of you, I knew what to expect, and I was able to determine if the antics of a basenji were acceptable for our home. And they are - we laugh at them, and every night when we first get into bed with Kipawa, we thank Therese and Kevin for all the time they put into their breeding program and the training and socialization they worked on to make Kipawa a very special little man.
