She looks great. I'm sure there'll be no problem for her to adapt.

In my opinion she could well have some Basenji in her but as Jennifer says we really need to see the way she moves.

What a sweetheart Kiko is! I love big dogs who pull their punches with little ones. My poor rottie had scabs from where the basenjis would hang off his neck. He just pretended they weren't there, lol.

Thank you for sharing- you have a beautiful, basenji-enriched life! Isn't it amazing how tall they can stretch to when they want to see what's on the counter? Hugs and Roos-:)

@dcmclcm4: Does your B clean the wrinkles on the face of your Shar Pei? Jennifer Yes, he does… He will also clean her face after she has been to get a drink at their water bowl :)

Thank you all for your kind words! It almost brings me to tears of joy right now to see her laying in the grass by the pool on a beautiful sunny day in California and knowing that shes gonna be OK. Of course I wish I could have done more for more dogs in her village (I DID help bring 2 of her puppies to the US though, they have arrived safely in Colorado today!) Segbwema, I know what you mean about the dogs having to fend for themselves… The village where I lived for 8 months didn't have any running water or electricity... so it definitely put things in perspective! Right now Laliti and I are BOTH feeling like we've won the lottery : ) Patty, yeah I hope Laliti doesnt take the word "mutt" the wrong way : ) I think I'd pin her to look a lot like a Basenji/Black lab mix.... (obviously shes not mixed with any lab, but just for the sake of describing her appearance) because she has a diluted Basenji appearance with a larger body and a thicker coat like a black lab....

I do need to come up with something a bit more comfortable for him and was thinking as he gets his balance better maybe he can go in a buddy seat behind me. We will see but for now he is still okay up in front. As he is only 5 months he still can't walk along for very long but that will also come as he gets older. In regards to desensitizing my horses. All I can say that it is many miles of riding, wet saddle blankets and making sure that every scary monster or obstacle that you come across is introduced and explored. Also, having their trust and being the leader makes a big difference as they are accepting of anything that you ask. Dakota is especially accepting and I call him my "Star Trek Horse" as he bodly goes where no horse has gone before. He accepts any kind of vehicle, heavy logging equipment, chain saws, blowers, musical bands, all animals, sirens, lights, helicopters, parachutists and even had a remote control plane flying over our heads once. He is quite special. My other horses are pretty much the same but like to stop, look and assess more often. My husband and I laugh because we purchased a quarter mare 9 years ago and had her shipped over from the US. She is a daughter of a 3 time world champion reining and cutting stallion. Guess what? She is scared to death of Swiss cows in the field with big bells. But, in the arena she'll work them fine for cutting and team penning work. Who would figure. Jenga is quite cautious around the horses when on the ground which is good. It is funny how he can pick up on a "stink eye" and know where his place is.

That was just a one time thing for sure. The herding ring and the sheep were corralled next to the lure coursing field. Dolce saw the sheep and had such interest in them. When the bunny was running, she wanted to chase it. When the bunny stopped, she tried to get over to the sheep, but only until the bunny started again. I decided to take her in the herding ring so she could get close to the sheep. She did a great job for a Basenji. The other B's just sniffed the ground and showed no interest. I'm actually thinking about starting her in agility. I expect she'll really enjoy the agility activities. During advanced obedience class we did some agility. I bought a small child's tunnel and hula hoop at the target for the backyard. Then I used some sticks to make weave polls. She enjoyed all of it.

Welcome back! The boys look like a "bio-unit", completely comfortable with each other. Multiple basenjis are great!

Very cool looking dog, but don't think she is a Basenji. One good way of telling if she barks she is not a Basenji. Good luck with her… She is a very cool looking dog!!!!
