@katzmeow My Grandmother had a Maltese that my Cousin gave to her. That little Dog bit my Grandmother all the time but she refused to part with him. My Paternal Grandmother loved Dogs (which she always had since she married my Grandfather), Cats and she always had a Canary that she called 'Petey! I like all animals but the biting is not good for anyone. The little Maltese lived with the Cousin who gave her to my Grandmother after my Grandmother passed at the age of 97!!! I have never had a Dog, Wolf, or Horse that bit me BUT the Feline I have now (the Killer Cat) bites me all the time. She cannot get me through the Denim but it is really annoying!!! Very sweet dog you have there! A

Hi Janet!!! I'm Nancy and Binti is my black and white Basenji. Your dogs are ALL so beautiful and Soso does look like she got some Basenji!!! If so, she will keep you laughing at her antics for the rest of her life. Glad you and the pack are all happy together-that's the BEST!!!! XOXOXO

Hi there. I would do some DNA testing on him. However, if you go to the Colorado Basenji Rescue website, there is a mix at the bottom of the page. There appears to be some similarities. You could also email Peggy of CBR with your photos and ask her. She has been working with Basenji and Basenji mixes for a long, long time.

@noble-labradors said in Looking for a reputable breeder: According to AKC, Labs are the number one most popular breed in America because of their intelligence and loyalty. Check out our labs in https://noblelabradors.com. Here is a thought. When someone goes to another breed's forum and advertises their dogs, when RESPONSIBLE breeders generally have legit breed specific places to notify of litters, and to find good homes.... how desperate or bad does that breeder have to be? Another thought, go to the page. :) You can see first hand what a puppymill/backyard breeder page looks like. :) Puppies for sale, purebred litter born. A responsible breeder has sire/dam, testing, titles listed. They are selling you responsibly bred, tested and make health a priority. The others... well, just wants to sell you a puppy. "Noble"... more like ignoble. OH, and as a bonus there, you get to keep paying through the nose by being REQUIRE to buy into their pyramid sales items: , feeding them only Life’s Abundance dog food advanced nutrition diet, as well as NuVet immune system booster supplements.<< Life's Abundance isn't bad, but too expensive and imho, way too high protein. And not one iota of proof their NuVet immune supplements do anything except line their pockets.

@debradownsouth Thank you for the kind words but I have to admit... I take young adults for my own convenience. I simply don't have time, stamina or energy to deal with the pups as adorable as they are. Having a puppy is like having a baby or too! Did I mention I was not into children and babies or can you guess?lol. I love the retirees. they are already used to crates (although Ollie is now somewhat recalcitrant about getting into hers because she would rather hang out with her now "Mom", lol!! They travel well. They are usually somewhat used to people. Ollie is not used to playing by herself and is just getting used to "big" breeds. She doesn't get the commands "sit, down or stay" yet but we are working on it. She is the champ of the "heel" command however!!

You need to give more descriptive information like age, height, weight, any white on her feet, etc. for people to try to make a better guess. Looking at the photos I would say not Basenji. She looks more like a shepherd mix, especially with the thick tail.

I have to go read your link, but having been called to the shelter to see a chow that was an overweigh pomeranian, a rottweiler that was a lovely hound dog (Rottie rescue in FL told me keep quiet, they knew it wasn't a rottie but had a good home so just get it. I expected a LITTLE Rottweiler looking... bahahaha, no.)... vets who thought our basenjis were so many other things, not much surprises me.

@jalex Well, Welcome back home to NJ. I got some nice doggy coats from an online store Dover. Made just like a horse blanket so they don't slip to the side when the dog is doing a B500 run. There is a Dover store in Del Hockessin that lets you take your pup in for try on if you are not into measuring. I got a nice rain coat and a good heavy winter blankie for my girl. Regular doggy stores have lots of cute sweaters. Not sure about the boots. Lost my Basenji girl a year ago so never had a chance to try the boots. I think a fellow made them for his dogs. Will try to get the link and see how he goes about it. If I find out I will pass it along.

@donc if this animal is connected to any African dogs of recent import. esp from Benin ( a former Portuguese colony that is possible OR while the numbers registered in the US is small....hunter dogs and packs have been in the US since the late 1800s. typically found in New England with pockets in fl, ca, and Georgia.

Thank you dmcarty... short and to the point. @Ravensera , be aware that MorseSA is so new to basenjis, he asked if the board knew of any other American/Canadian dual champions. (Extremely common, btw...and many with international titles as well). Please listen to others here years of experience in the breed. And pet or show puppy, you want the same responsible breeders with the same responsible breed testing..
