If you saw tapes, that is something that requires a specific med. My vet depends on me to see them because they do not show up on a fecal that shows the eggs of other worms. Tapes can come from ingesting a flea, and it's possible the shelter did not SEE the tapes, so didn't give med for it.

We have this discussion every few years. Some have the connected toe pads, some don't. As for international one... you'd need to touch bases with the people involved in bringing them and maybe Dr. Jo.

@toeloop840 Sadly we fought it for 7 months and lost her. She was my heart dog and the prognosis was for a year or more but she simply crashed with every new protocol. None of us figured in her autoimmune issues. Hopefully you can get your dog eating. Cyproheptadine is fairly cheap if your vet will write a script. The other one.. blanking on it.. isn't very expensive either.

Good news. After finishing a 14 day course of antibiotics, using antifungal/antibacterial wipes, and a switch in food, Mojo's toes are almost back to normal. Fingers (and toes) crossed that whatever he had doesn't come back. @tanza -- I know. They also don't typically have one in June, which is why I was asking about whether she had whelped last cycle. I don't think we have a lot to go on. Not being critical, but "my dog seems to be in heat for over a month" doesn't provide a lot of information and could mean a lot of different things.

I couldn't find your picture so I'm literally speculating, but it could be dermatitis mange. This mange is caused by mites, which all dogs get from their mothers. Not infectious to other dogs or humans. You can see the mites under a microscope. If it is dermatitis mange, I'd ignore it unless it starts getting out of control since it's not harmful. I don't think you'd need a groomer unless your baby is seriously resistant to nail trimming. As others have mentioned, they shed a couple of times a year. Usually not a big deal.

Stuffing something soft into it might well do the trick. Using the whole leg and foot, you could locate the stuffing in place inside the stocking by tying a knot each side of it and then using as much of the leg as you need to fix it in place around her. I was thinking more about protecting the area she is attending to. But try anything - poor wee girl !

I had a doctor tell me to stop all red meat and milk when I was a teen and experiencing joint pain. It helped, but back then, no internet and not much access to current research. @chewy1 Seeka is bathed regularly due her swimming and rolling in sand at the park daily, besides she sleeps in the bed with us. We put 1 tsp of Optima 365 in her dry food daily. Vet recommended. Takes care of her dandruff.

Yes! Thank you to all for responding to my post as well. The environmental issues are a good one for me to research. We live in south Texas on a peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico, so humidity and high levels of mold are the norm. We've been gutting our house room-by-room over the last 13 years to repair and update it, so there have been a lot of new materials, construction dust, etc. And then our town took the direct hit from Hurricane Harvey, our home was flooded, and we're still not back in it. We've decided to abandon our coastal life and move inland, so those environmental factors will be changing. If our gal's health has been impacted by the home and location, maybe the move will make a difference. I hope it's not too late if that's the case.

My 8 yr old just had this happen. He has had diarrhea issues his entire life, but never this. It is called a prolapsed anus, and even if it resolves in its own, u need to go to vet for antibiotics and to discuss possible causes. It’s not normal, but can happen when straining.

Any update ?
