Sometimes Kids come to "strange" ideas about what to do with a pet. Therefore it always should be obligatory for the partents or other adults to have a close eye on what is going on there…. Marbles in dog ears are also no fun to have...

In Germany there is a huge political discussion against so called "dangerous breeds" because a few accidents with such breeds have been pushed through the press and tv. There are hard laws on who is allowed to keep these dogs and who is not. There are partially very high taxes you have to pay in several areas when you have a pit or amstaff or kangal or whatever they think is a "dangerous breed".

But there are countries which play it even harder: for example a while ago you where not able to travel from Germany to Holland with a Staff-Mix. They would have taken the dog from you and maybe put it down without you being able to do something against it. But as far as I know, this law has been cancelled....hopefully...

I should add that Seti hurt his paw as soon as I started training. He was on "house arrest" for a month and the doctor told us that we were not to allow him to run or jump. Yeah right - like that's going to happen!!! Anyhow, Seti is all better but I wanted to add a little basenji tale to the story 🙂

Thanks for all the tips and support. I found some more information on clicker training that explains things way better than this instructor did so I have decided to dump the class and I really am so much happier (I didn't realize how much my frustration with the instructor was affecting me:().
We did learn a few things in that class and with the tips you all have given I think Gossy is progressing well. The other day I was practising using my hand as a target stick and it ended up she healed without the leash! She did the same thing last night and for a significant distance. I was impressed! Of course now we need to work outside with more distractions.

I have the most wonderful friesian, her temperment is amazing. She's not even 3 yet but she is just so sweet and gentle!!

But, do keep us updated. I've had horses since i was 3 and they are a huge part of my life. I couldnt be without them even though im not as involved in the horse world as i once was!!

P.S. I have some photos from a show over here in the UK with shires in their traditional plaits and tack if anyone is interested in seeing them. Its just amazing!!

I like the Friesian horses but it's not a breed wich can used for lots of things, they are to special i think 😃
I like the Friesian for shows and as a barouche horse (is it a good word?)

I once ride a Friesian and it's different with riding a normal or western horse.
They make larger steps and it's very comfortable riding!

Our neighbouring farmer used to breed shire horses, they don't breed now but still have loads of horses. They go to loads of shows, they were sponsored by a local brewery.

The horses are fascinated by the basenjis, and always want to come and have a look! the b's aren't keen when they snort at them though.

I have never heard of a horse milking farm before!!

My parents got one of these but they didn't realize when they bought that they actually had to do regular maintainence with it, such as adding water and activators. They never really used it too much. So, if you don't mind that, it sounds like a pretty good idea.

LOL, I know this conversation is pretty much over but I had to jump in anyway. I too, think the new "designer breeds" are silly. They make cute mutts sometimes, like my precious "Chiweenie". I never knew there was a name for a Chihuahua/Dacshund mix/mutt until we got him from a ….. !surprise! shelter. :p

Hi and yes there is a small group of us here in LA. We meet up on Saturday's around 10ish at the Laurel Cyn Dog Park. The park is a good size located on a hill side with lots of tree's and benches. If the weather is nice we average about 5 Basenjis. It would be wonderful if you are able to swing by one day.
