Re: Male neutering
Hi all, I read the male neutering post from last year - very interesting stuff. I have a one year old male who the vets have been telling me would need to be neutered because only one testicle had descended and it was in the wrong place.
Anyway, just last week I brought him for a check up and was told that BOTH testicles are now descended into the scrotum (which is correct), although one is still a bit smaller than the other. Previously the vets said for this to rectify itself would be almost impossible after the 6 month mark... But there you go!
Technically, I don't need to get him neutered now. However, vets are recommending it for all the usual various reasons. I'm not used to getting dogs neutered, have never done so in the past, and now totally unsure what to do. Unfortunately, I got a female pup just a few weeks ago to keep my Basenji company, thinking I'd be getting the male neutered anyway due to the health issue, and I don't have a clue about heat cycles etc etc! My BF is reluctant to get the male neutered as he thinks it will make him fat, lazy, boring etc.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense.. It's late and I'm sleepy! Any advice??
Ps. Love this forum and thanks everyone for their contributions
