Dearest friends,
Many of you know my husband became a quadriplegic 7 years ago while training for a triathalon. He was hit by a car while on his bike. Life has been very good for us despite a number of challenges. We are now facing another one.
Darrel had a seizure on Wednesday evening. He was admitted to our local, smaller hospital. They felt that it might have been based on a med he takes (he has to take quite a few). We saw our family doctor yesterday and he was concerned/worried that Darrel still seemed very 'punch drunk' - had not improved - memory still very bad, could not keep on track with a conversation, and his speech seemed very slow and thick. Our family doctor suggested we take him to a bigger hospital.
We did that last night, and he has been admitted into the hospital for testing. They are also not comfortable that he has not gotten better after the seizure, as the seizure was not huge. So, they'll be running a number of tests on his brain and will also do a spinal tap. He is in decent spirits. He is a fighter.
I just wanted to tell you guys this so you can keep him in your thoughts/prayers/whatever you do to keep good energy in the cosmos. I truly believe that good thoughts make a huge difference when someone needs help.
Finally, you have all been wonderful friends since I have joined this forum. I have learned so much from all of you wonderful people. May you all enjoy the most heartwarming, fun and joyous times over the holiday season. Hug those you love. Let the spirit of the holiday season touch your hearts.
cheers,
Franp.s. Kipawa has some lovely presents to open tomorrow from some very special basenjis and their wonderful Mom and Dad!

You, your family and the doctors will certainly be in my prayers and thoughts that modern medicine (or ancient Chinese medicines) will soon help you hubby mend.
