I am really curious about what Zuri will do this autumn  Last year and this year too, she was in season in late May/June. And also in october last year. Poor thing - wasn't happy with beeing into it so soon again after her phantom pregnancy… This time I don't know. Thabo is telling YES. But Zuri isn't acting like that and other males are not interested yet. Would be happy if not. Currently she's in a good mood again :)

LOL i ducked in for a shower and found my newspaper shredded ^_^ LOL lucky the postie gave me two copies! – Apparantly its hot here too (for winter) and we've been finding fish that only hang out in warm waters here, down south in the colder waters where they are never seen/caught. Rather scary thought if the fish are migrating other places they never usually go.

I can relate. Mine's vacationing at her grandma's for the second time this summer. I'd say the house is too quiet without her but come to think of it it's quiet when she IS here! Don't sleep too good though–-there's a little empty spot behind my knees....

sorry for your lost, but they say when one door closes another opens, this you save another b..my 2 cent is we still have a 8 month old,and two labs which are of course house broken but getting a puppy… only thing i can say is be observant, tricks learned from here helped us out, we still keep a pee pad down, only once in a blue moon does she use it,shes learn to go when the other dogs go out , but if she been running around the house or rough housing with the others out she goes, learned that when she stops its time

I vote every day. I guess other groups have more people helping them. Sigh.

**We have a few smalls and few mediums. Keep them filled with peanut butter in the freezer all the time. They last about a half day when they're in their crates and we're at work. They're like the special treats we give them once in a while to change things up a bit.**

Our female goes to bed with dad and are male stays out with me. I think she likes to sleep on moms side of the bed and streach out. Ive come in a few times and found her with her head on my pillow. :)

Yes, they are "naturals" for basenji ownership. Admiration of your basenji's cleverness is a wonderful point of view!

Well, I always thought it was My-a, like the South American tribe. I sometime make the mistake of calling my current fella by my previous fella's name. O.K. it's frequent enough that he sometimes comes to it. Can't blame him, really, I will answer to a name that is not mine, nor close to it, because most folks can't remember what my name is, they just remember that it's, I don't know, Scandanavian, Germanic. I've been called 'Gretchen' my enire life, and I answer to it, in most company, because I know they mean me. That's not my name. I'm sure Arleigh feels the same way sometimes. Poor fella!

One of the questions on the malinois rescue application was "Do you have any small animals that you wish to keep?" Hmmmmm . . .

I wonder if skunks smell like badgers? That's the worst smelling poo that my Basenjis roll in. They particularly wipe the side of their muzzles in the poo - more often than the whole body..

Gemma does this all the time to her feet, her sides, and Shaye, when Shaye will allow it. I thought it was just a nervous habit. Huh - learn something new every day on here!

Lovely story, it brought a lump to my throat as my last Basenji was called Benji. People do notice them because it sometimes seems they are a permanent fixture in the window. Our neighbour used to see Benji sunbathing in the window and i told her he was ill, he lasted for another 18 months and we lost him last Feb. We then got Malaika and as soon as she was old enough she took up residence in Benji's place. Our neighbout didn't know we had a pup and remarked to her friend how Benji was still hanging on .
