@subaruthie: Jill, I've been going up there my whole life (my great grandfather built the place after WWII), and it was great to finally get to share it with my husband and dog. Didn't expect the dog to like it so much, but it seemed to be really good for him. I think the sand exfoliated his skin and actually helped his allergy problems! Hoping to go back soon, now that we're only 2.5 hours away in Lansing. subaruthie, That is a beautiful piece of property your family has - right on the beach! It's priceless!! WOW - lots of history in the cottage built by your Great Grandfather. It's old, but quite "grand". I like that it's tucked and blended into the landscape. Sounds like lots of firsts for your DH and Cooper! Only 2.5 hours away - I'd be there all summer! It is 3.5 hours from us in Livonia - 1 hour to Lansing. I used to ride the Dunes a lot when I had my Honda 3-wheeler. Haven't been there in 20 years and thought I'd let my son experience the Dunes. It's a one of a kind place to ride. I love-love the Lake Michigan coast. ;) Thanks for sharing your pics - It was a wonderful weekend.

the pics and video are amazing. The other day my husband told me Champ jumped up and growled at some children. Of couse I already started thinking he's getting aggresive but after watching the video we realized he was singing.

Yes, I know Barkless dog…They do the most worst thing [chew paper, garbage digging and just destroying my home like a tornado was there for 2 hours] I agree it's part of the allure to them, they don't just accept every person they meet, but must get to know you. It's like you have to earn their respect, and part of there charm is they are not perfect little animals. They can bring great amounts of anger, misstrust, fear, embarassment, humor & above all love from human owners. Why do my dogs allways insist on pooping at the worst times, like when a crazy dog is in some ones house- going crazy at the window or in front of a group of people. One time they went potty in front of a crazy dog in a house that was on the second floor, the dog blew the whole screen out of the frame! Next thing you hear lady screaming at the dog!

Love the look on Nexa's face! "are you Hungry?" Nexa: "well DUH". Love the piano singer, so mournful. Athena doesn't make a lot of noise unless she thinks she is missing out on something. Then she makes a racket.

@Duke: Hi chel, I think my boy Duke is a Basenji/Jack Russell mix. But I think yours looks more JR than Duke. I agree he has a Basenji head on a JR body. He's really cute! Of course we love them and wouldn't give them up for the world. Is his temperment more like Basenji or JR? Does he bark - much? Duke barks a lot! Duke's tail was also cut off when we got him as a puppy. And I too had no clue what breed Duke was for 4 months! (I had a crazy dog is all I knew.) A groomer tipped me off to the wonderful world of Basenji. Hi! Duke is very cute too!! I think Jida's temperment is quite like a B cuz he sometimes insist in doing something that he don't listen, really got his own idea, so sometimes I really wonder "is he a dog?" cuz he really got his own thinking like a human! Jida Barks sometimes when he hear somebody is coming back home. He is a bit crazy sometimes too like crazy running around my apartment. And do your dog let you to touch his head? Jida don't let me to touch his head sometimes when he's playing with me. He's like don't want me to get over him sometimes.

@tanza: This had happen a couple of times to one of my pups… Her house had a skunk under the deck also... and they had to call someone to trap the skunk... honestly... they will most likely be back unless you find the entrance and block it off.... Yes–they are very much creatures of habit. I had a skunk that was visiting my backyard every day years ago--fortunately, my dogs never had a run-in with it. But I ended up hiring a wild animal trapper who trapped animals like skunks and would relocate them.

@cleopatra: I have to say that the one thing my Basenji has taught me is to pick up after myself!:D Amen to that… that is what I always tell prospective Basenji owners... if nothing else you will learn if it is important you will not leave it laying around!

There are now DNA tests available that can pinpoint what your dog might be genetically. Some companies can only do 30 or so breeds but most advertise well over 150. Why should you care - well it is a way to know what sorts of things healthwise you should be on the lookout for as many breeds have unique health issues. I was at the vet last year and there was a puggle there with an eye issue - the owners shared what it was and it is common in beagles. They then went on to say that they had trouble with the other eye before and it was an issues specific (although not exclusive) to pugs. So much for hybrid vigor. Darling picture though - good luck

The first one is amazing! It's perfect, great lighting, detail, composition & color. It almost look like a photo realist illustration is so perfect. We got a design Jet printer at work and I blew up two dog pictures to 18X24 on photo paper. They turned out great. You should go to a kinko's printing place and do the same with thast one. They can also mount it on foam board. Last time I did it, it was about $20?
