  • Happy belated birthday Dude!..I love the pics of his little adventures :D.

  • Great pics of Dude, happy Birthday

  • He's so handsome!

  • We have had many adventures and many more planned this summer so look forward to many more photos! =)

Here are a few photos of Dudes housemates, cats Hana is the tabby and Mamba is the tuxedo…

And here are a few of my horse I had until college and living on my own, Toby the National Show Horse (Arabian x American Saddlebred)
Someday I hope to have another or rather, a few more…

We also have 3 freshwater aquariums… Im an animal junkie =)

  • Awesome, I am an animal junkie as well, glad to see I am not alone, although my hubby seems to think I am.

  • Great pictures thank you for sharing. Your little guy is very handsome.

    Rita Jean

  • He is super cute! My girl was born on Christmas too!

  • Great pics!! I love the little black spot on his tail, how neat that is. Great looking pup

Love all your other critters too, they are all beautiful

  • Thank you all for the wonderful comments, we think he's the greatest thing ever. So much fun and always entertaining!

I beleive a lot of our red/white basenjis do have black hair on their tails, I am told it indicates the possibility of producing tri colored offspring if bred properly. Commonly referred to as 'tri-factoring'

  • What a cute boy! Thanks for sharing these lovely pics!

  • They are very cool pictures…........and a great name too!

Not a fan of bowling are you?

    Alan

  • Bowling, I wouldn't call myself a fan… Do I sense a 'big lebowski' reference coming on? =)
We decided on Dude after weeks of name deliberation, trying so hard to pick an unusual, awesome name... We called him little dude in the meantime and it stuck, lol... It fits him perfect, such an easygoing goof... And I'm pretty alternative, skateboard, snowboard, surf, rock and underground hip hop music, camping, hiking, road tripping, tattooed little spitfire... I think a basenji was the perfect choice for a puppy, lol

  • It was a 'Lebowski' referance!

Tattooed spitfire! - With an ace dog, is it me - or has it got a little warm in here?

    Great pics!

Yes, that is correct, breeding to a Tri colored or another color with the Tri Factor and you can get Tris.

I think I see some of the basenji ears, especially in the second picture. I just want to grab them and rub them good! :) It's most likely that there is at least a black lab there too. Also it may be not the first "mix". If it is a generation over there may be more then one mix in there. But either way, Lilly is adorable! :):) It's awesome that she has a good forever home now.

Hi there! I have to post a picture of Kai (Pharoah's brother) soon. It is so funny, as clear and white as Pharoah's white parts are, Kai is completely spotty with ticking and mottling. His stomach is predominately dark spots. It is actually pretty cute - my daughter says he looks like ranch dressing. His sister, Willow, is the opposite - clear, clear white with no freckles at all. The female that the breeder kept is spotty like Kai. I guess you never know how it is going to turn out, since when we got them, there was no freckling at all (although Kai did have a little ticking). Kai and Pharaoh do look alike, besides the spots - they all held on to those wrinkles really well. How much does he weigh now? Kai is a beefy 23 pounds (that was 3 weeks ago). Willow was only 17.2 at the same weigh-in. The breeder was a little surprised by how big Kai is, but he isn't overweight. Her female is still small like Willow. She said she really strives for gender differentiation and she certainly has achieved it - not only do they look completely male and female, Kai carries himself much more like a "hound dawg" than I would expect from a basenji - he tends to sit in a slumpy fashion and flop down when he lays down. Willow is the opposite - completely fastidious and dainty. We are in Santa Fe, NM at the moment, and Kai is covered in pi?on sap and dust and having a ball eating live cicadas. Willow is pristine. How is everything else going? I love these puppies. They are asleep right now with my daughters. When my girls get up in the early morning, the dogs jump in bed with my husband and me. I wake them up at 11:00 pm for a potty break and they sigh and trudge along unwillingly, desperate to get back to their girls. I'll try to get a picture of Kai (and Willow) up soon so you can see Pharoah's brother and sister….

Yes, I know what you mean. Cairo now has a full set of big teeth and is learning bite sensitivity.
