He may not be a Basenji, but he certainly has the crazy poses down pat! Congratulations on this beautiful little boy!!!!

Another possibility might be Rat Terrier. They do come in brindle, although that colour is out of favour. There is one in my neighbourhood that has a bit of a Basenji look to him, and his tail is very short.......not sure if it's natural or docked.

@Dagodingo said in My pack in upstate NY.: @DebraDownSouth Another thing which seems to be a common trait is the basenji back leg stretch off the couch, I am guessing you have seen this one before too? [image: 1466604677229-image.jpeg] Oh yes, my boy used to do that all the time! Definitely a Basenji favourite. I also have lots of "under the blanket" pix of mine too. I have a throw on one of my couches, and if Perry considered it to be chilly, I would often have no sign of a dog when I returned home, other than that strange hump in the middle of the couch, completely covered up. After a time he would realize I was back and emerge from his cocoon.

That doesn't surprise me about Chafuko…I know basenjis have great poker faces but there is something innate about some dogs eyes that shows they are windows to the soul. Unfortunately, my little Oakley isn't a window but a brick wall (lmao), but I love him nonetheless. My first dog had that look and he too could sense my childhood seizures and was always by my side when I was sick. I usually find that look in the older ones but even then it's few and far between.

I'm always amazed how Basenjis sense when you're ill and use the healing technique of keeping close. I had a very nasty fall once and was knocked unconscious - I came to to find the Basenjis positioned all round me lying as close to me as possible. LOvely pictures again, Jess.
