You can find a lot of puppy collars at thrift shops for pretty cheap - would never pay full price for one. I'm getting mine at 14 weeks and was told that 8-12 inches was what was being used - then at 4- 6 months graduate to 10-14 inch collar.

    Shaye's MomS
Shaye loves the sun - will lie out in the heat for as long as she can get it. Gemma, being a basenji/sheltie mix and furrier, lies on the cool tiles on the porch, and when the sun hits her, she heads for the A/C. At the beach, Shaye lies in the hot sand in the sun until I get her into the shade, and because she is also a heat seeking thing, wants to be totally under covers to sleep at night. Stands to reason the tris and b/w's would absorb more heat and not prefer it as much as the r/w's do.

@Quercus: I am thinking the blue in the eyes is the reflection, not the color. Blue dobes have brown eyes, just like black ones. Idk if that only works in dogs. but rabbits if its a blue color they must have the blue eyes or its a DQ. Omgoodness that is a beautiful color! A little on the light side but it is just a puppy and gorgeous none the less. I wonder if you can get new colors passed in dogs like in rabbits. Trust me its a difficult process but its so rewarding to see all the beautiful colors. Chocolate has always been a favorite of mine :)

@Craigh: We got an extra dose of evil yesterday. Bella spent a couple hours laying on the couch with my wife. When she woke up she decided it was play time. She grabbed the corner of the carpet (where two rooms join) and RIPPED IT UP OFF THE FLOOR!! This was tacked down carpet that she had never messed with before. Don't know where that came from. She had pulled up about a square yard before I caught her. We're thinking about changing her name to DeMonica. Atta "Tri'ing" Basenji!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@nomrbddgs: She may always be nasty, or it may be a newcomer thing. I have always had younger B's coming into my home. I've never introduced an older B into my home or an older dog for that matter. Perhaps some of the others have more experience. I know the domesticated dogs (most of them) would get over it, but I'm not sure about a B. I agree…I think it is too soon to tell. She is scared, and hurt, I don't think you can get an accurate assessment at this point. I would keep them separated until she is feeling 100% better, and more comfortable, then go slowly. But let your family know that she may have to go to another home, if the dogs can't work it out.
