Cute pup. She has all the markings of a basenji. Sometimes a little mix of another breed in her is good. It will help with not having the genetic problems basenjis have.

My males at home 99% of the time would squat and pee… out on a walk or at shows/lure trials would lift their legs... but then I have had bitches that also lifted legs.... Oh and all mine are/were walking poopers

hansel only lifts to mark, other wise squats.... when he marks, he ALWAYS pees on himself because he gets distracted and walks away before he is done. AND he walks as he poops too. when and if there is an ACCIDENT in the house we ALWAYS know who did it....

Like, Pat, 99% of the time my boys squat in the back yard, or even the first major pee of a walk. After that, it is a social communication event, as high as they can mark. Nicky also will hike a rear leg and try to pee on a post, silly girl.
Mine rarely do the walking-poops, thankfully, as it makes night pick-up a real challenge!Silly thread, always funny, even their most basic functions bring us pleasure!

Chance lifts his leg so high I'm sure he's going to fall over! His bladder must be massive, someimes it takes over a minute for him to fininsh peeing. We've even held up judging at dog shows because he needs a pee. :eek:
My GSD poos while walking/walks while pooing. When we walk all of the dogs together the GSD must lead so whoever is behind can poop the scoop.

And we always have to wait until he cleaned himself…Thabo does both. First pee squatting and after that he lifts his leg to mark.

Tyler never lifts to mark in the back yard, but once on a leash outside the yard, nothing is safe. When he's done he stands in front of Kate, and she cleans him. EEEUUUWWWW :eek:

Otis leans into his squat I swear it splatters right up on his lower stomach..when he does pick his leg up, it is extremely close to landing on his front legs..but I don't think he has actually gotten himself pee'd on yet.
Our old dog Lou (past over the bridge a year ago) would always wait and pee until our other dog Bogus (also past over the bridge a year ago..tough spring.) so he could pee on Bogus' head..never failed..it always involved bath time to take the two on a walk together.. Lou was a dalmation/chow/lab mutt and Bogus was a westie..

I was thinking about it the other day because Cody walks while he pees AND poos. He just can't be bothered to stop. Sometimes he'll walk 5 feet or more while he's peeing. Maybe it has something to do with being in the wild and not taking too much time or some such.

**Both my boy B's squat to pee, one's 14+ the other's 4. Peanut the older one parks to poop, but Zander is always moving.
The other thing, is they both always head in different directions. This places 'old dad' in the middle, streched out like a scarecrow, hangin on to the fully extended flexi leads. :eek:

my 9yr nuetured male starts off in a squat and then half way through lifts his leg about 1 inch off the ground, and then switches to the other leg.

Squiggy does this. His knees have touched the ground before.
If squiggy decides to hike his leg, he always rests it on something. The little pavers on my flower bed, the fence- and he only lifts it like 3 inches up. I think it is more like a modified squat
He also walks and twirls when he poops.

Yep! Jibini, neutered at 8 months old, still gets "hunched" in the morning before he goes outside. He even does it after a long nap.
My husband thinks its hilarious….he always figured "morning glory" was a purely human phenomenon. :p
Jibini also squats to pee. Usually stretches out, and occasionally his knees also touch the ground. I've never seen him lift his leg. Jibini also does the poop-spin, occasionally combined with the poop-walk. When we drove a truck, I used to joke that Jibini got paid better for a load with "multiple drops". Bad trucker bathroom humor? LOL.
I've fostered 2 male Basenjis and both of them lifted their leg if they had something to pee on. I wondered if their "manly influence" would inspire Jibini to greatness, but alas, he still squats. He even "marked" after the foster dogs, but he'd squat to do it. Kind of defeating the purpose.
Tana walks & piddles, she's never lifted a leg, and she is an efficient one-spot pooper. My late Boxer, Sweetie, used to occasionally lift a leg if she was marking new territory.
When I worked for a vet, we had one dog come in for boarding frequently, she would actually lift BOTH back legs off the ground & stand on her front paws to pee on trees. THAT was impressive.
