Otis, his nick name being No-Otis, has found TP or as my hubby calls it **** tickets and he loves it, but the most favorite thing of his has got to be damp towels, he will even pull them off of our towel warmes which are high, about 3' up on the wall. He also has a fascination with our trash can in the bathroom, one of those with the lid swinging back and forth, if you get the lid going he can sit there and stare at it until it stops…several minutes of stillness in an awake B...that is huge, at least at my house. The really annoying thing about the TP is that now our Schnorkie, Luna has followed his footsteps and I think she might also have gone past him in tearing it up...she never did that until she saw him doing it a few days ago...cool, a new, free toy, she thought..DD ( also internet shorthand for darned dog...)

My Basenji used to enjoy stealing a tissue or sweet wrapper from the coffee table and then shredding it. He gained immense pleasure from the attention this gained him.
I was sitting there in the bathroom minding my own business when the door flung open and my boy stopped dead in his tracks and looked at me like I was doing something wrong because I was in there. He stared at me through the corner of his eye and walked very slowly to the counter where we keep the toilet paper. I didn't say anything because I wanted to see just how bold he is. Still staring at me through the corner of his eye, he put his front legs on the counter and slowly opened his mouth, and was going to grab the roll of paper. "Not Yours" I said to him and as soon as I finished speaking he grabbed the paper and ran just as fast as he could. I was in no position to chase him but I just kept yelling, "NOT YOURS! NOT YOURS!". My wife caught him in the hallway and shredded toilet paper all around him. She yelled at him and he ran off, I just know he was laughing at me…
I have been a victim of a drive by snatching myself. LOL! I love that you still tried to yell "not yours" Classic, LOL!
My Bs just love it when I step out of the shower. They come straight over and start licking me dry! It tickles when they 'do' my feet. :o They also love loo roll!!!
I have read somewhere, a long time ago, that they hate their humans getting wet just as much as they hate getting wet themselves and that is why they try to lick you dry.
Do they even make a basenji that could pass up toilet paper or a paper towel? Abbey has never messed with the toilet paper thank God but she does like the cardboard roll. Have to save them for her for times when we need stimulating entertainment. First we have to make silly toot toot noises with it then she gets to obliterate it. BTW, she is the official junk mail shredder at our house.
I have had my b lick my feet will Im still the shower. Its so funny all you can see is his nose. He gets all excided when I get done because he gets to take a bath on my towl. He does this every time I have a damp towl but my female only 0nce and awhile. Does anyone else bs like to do this. It is great to watch.;)

Yes … toilet paper, used kleenix out of the baskets, towels and underwear on the cellar floor near the washer as you sort through your laundry, tries to run with a blanket she wants ... Yep ... Bisa is one of those mischievous ones too! LOL

Too funny, all your posts. We really do have one of the most enjoyable yet frustrating breeds:) I have experienced each and every one of these, sometimes funny, sometimes, not so much, traits in the two Basenjis that I've had. And I've only had Arleigh 14 months.:D
Not only is Zelda already showing great skill in toilet paper theft – she has enlisted Sagan the cat in her mad schemes. We put the toilet paper up high, and Sagan knocks it down for Zelda to grab and shred.
Good thing they are so cute. Little beasts.
