What a sweet little boy–having a non-basenji sister/brother is great, it gives them a "positive role model"!

@sinbaje: If you would like to see basenjis run agility, there will be three basenjis at the Eukanuba Invitational in Orlando Dec. 16,17&18th at the Orange County Convention Center. There will also be a meet the breed booth and there will be basenjis doing conformation too. I'm actually getting married on the 17th down in Ft Myers where I'm originally from and where most of my immediate family still lives. Otherwise I'd be all for stopping by and meeting some Basenjis since it's right there! I joked with my fiance that if I had looked up that info a few months ago we'd have adjusted our date a week earlier :D Macpack- I may try to swing by there some Sunday. We have passes to Busch Gardens that expire in Feb so we want to go a few more times between now (or more realistically after the wedding) and then. So hopefully we'll get to meet a few semi-local Basenjis and their people soon.

Thank you thank you for the great advice and direction toward OFFA! I actually researched that information somewhat before I went to visit, then asked to make sure what was on the site was true from Kyle and Steve's mouths! Everything checked out so far with them–no health issues whatsoever :) So exciting! Blah, this will be the longest 4 months of my life, methinks!

Puppies take a lot of your time, and it really isn't fair to the pup unless you have that time to give. It's not good for any dog to spend too much time alone, especially locked in a crate. It can be disastrous for a pup. If you're home a lot, by all means get that special puppy, but if you spend much of your day away, an older dog might be the way to go. Of the five Basenjis I have owned, two I raised and three I adopted between the ages of eight months and three years. It was far easier to cope with already housebroken dogs and integrate them into our home. And down the road, if you do get a puppy, you will have a companion so the pup doesn't have to be alone.

Rat terrier. There is some basenji behind some of the rat terriers but my guess especially with his coloring would be rat terrier.

@Bravo: As I said he'll do something in return for something. Sounds to me like you have a big Basenji with longer fur. :)

Very interesting - I don't think anybody has one in the Uk. It sounds as though they are a specialist dog and need careful rearing.

If you'd like to adopt a rescue….I'd highly recommend Basenji Rescue and Transport (B.R.A.T.). There are 4 rescues waiting for adoption in Texas right now. We got our Prince through BRAT and we love him dearly!

Hi Sadie, Lily had the first four tests done at one clinic and the next five done at another. The results have been all over the board at both places. Dr. Gonto thought about possible lab error early on. Thank you all for your thoughts and ideas. Keep them coming please. PMP

@Brushyrun: I joined the BCOA back when their Bulletin was just a few sheets of paper stapled together. I don't know where in Arizona you spend your winters, but there is a Basenji Club in the Phoenix area. "Basenji Fanciers of Greater Phoenix". They don't meet very often during the summer but they do during the winter. Hey there Bev, welcome!!!

You will find a lot of new friends here. Do you need the site to order the cheekswab? You order it and do it at home. Very easy!
