We now have everything put up where he can't reach anything.

He is such a joy to be around and makes us laugh with his antics.

I didn't think about it till last night but the previous owners did live out in the country. The house was far back from the road too. So that might be why he gets scared of noises so quickly.

The previous owners said he was 9 months old and we have had him a little over 2 months. So he is around 11 months old.

Jackal wanted to play one morning so he proceeded to try to wake us up at 4:30am!!! I wear my hair in a ponytail, so he started playing with it. He also kept jumping on the bed and then jumping down. At one point, he even unplugged the alarm clock!

When Jackal is ready to go to bed, he will come in the living room and just look at us, then turn and around and go into the bedroom. He continues this for sometime before he finally gives up!

One day, my husband and I were watching t.v and out of no where Jackal comes running up to me and right before he gets to me he jumped up with both paws. He wanted to play. It was so funny how he did it.

Jackal is such a joy to be around even though I have already went through 3 pairs of flip flops, I now have those up to where he can't get them. Along with keys, change, purse and so on!

Thank you everyone for your replies. I should have made myself clear when I posted this, he is fearful of people but not us. When people come over he will run to the bedroom. We believe that he was abused before he come to live with us. Since the people we got him from had a lot of dogs, I think he didn't get enough attention. He bonded with me very quickly, I believe within a day or two. He just started trusting my husband in the last week. He would not take a treat from him unless he put it on the floor or I gave it to him. My husband and I think he was abused by a male.

I have introduced him to my brothers dogs and have taken him over there with me a few times. He got a long with them very well.

I got Jackal through craigslist.com. I have no idea who whose parents are as they were his second owners. I don't know much about Basenji's except for what I have read online and in this forum.

I have had Jackal for about 2 months now. I found him on craigslist in the free section. He had 2 other owners before me. Jackal is terrified of everything, the wind, thunder, cars, other people, any type of noise. If someone knocks on our door, he runs to the bedroom to hide. So I was just wondering if this is a normal behavior for a Basenji.
