Show Off Your Dog
  • What a cutie… how old is the puppy?

  • Lovely, did you get your pup the same breeder you got your r/w?
Thanks for the photos..they are wonderful.

  • Ono was born 12-14-2009 in the sunny paradise of Oahu, Hawaii… In the pictures she is 10 weeks old.

Ono was bred by Kathy Britton of Khani's Basenjis and John Gaidos of Teazer Basenjis, she is 'gwen' Khani's Teazer Hollaback Girl out of 'Motumbo' and 'Smooches' (Am Ch Grandquest Kazor's Motumbo Xequemate x Am Ch Teazer's American Idol)

  • Just love the kind interaction of the two of them. I think you have a lovely little family there!

  • Beutiful little Ono..and Dude is handsome as all get out..
I love the pictures. Thank you so much for sharing your joys..

  • Kathy has some lovely b's…your lucky to own one.

  • Thank you all for the kind words :)

Having 2 has been SO much fun!

  • @thunderbird8588:

Ono is gorgeous, what an appropriate name for a B ;)
    /QUOTE]

    what does that name mean?

  • @pacificNWbasenji:

Hey I have the same dog bed! Yay for Costco!

  • Ono is a Hawaiian word, used to describe something that is 'the best'
AND happens to be very basenji appropriate :)

We hesitated naming her something that so strongly resembled 'no' but we don't use 'no' very much in our training, we say 'hey' to get their attention and then give them another cue to follow when we are redirecting their behaviour.

The pups love the huge costco bed, and I love the great cedar smell :)

@iris-shuman said in I would like you to meet "The 'Marvel'-ous Prince T'Challah" a/k/a Prince: Iris was born in December too Not much of a surprise when you think about it ! Basenjis in the Northern Hemisphere come in to season through September/October/November and whelp their litters November/December/January. A great many litters' arrivals cause the turkey to be put back in the oven on Christmas Day while the puppies are delivered ! Decrease the size of the photo and you will be able to show Iris to all of us. And do as Tanza suggests to Daureen - get her Fanconi tested.

@TMartin: Looks like he did wonderful! In Loki's puppy class we did the same exercise, with the peanut, regular exercise balls, and barrels placed on their side and with something underneath while upright to make it wobbly. One of the pics I posted of Loki months ago is of him on the peanut. A regular exercise ball is more challenging as you first need to make sure you have a good hold on it and then gradually loosen your hold so it wobbles however much the dog can handle at the time. And of course it is far more unstable than the peanut. I haven't ordered the peanut yet, but now that you are talking about the regular exercise ball, I might go for that instead, because I can use it to stretch out my lower back.

lillysmom1- we had contacted Keath a few months ago about fostering but never heard a response. Glad to know all is well. Beautiful dogs on that site, as well as your own. We are in Columbus OH but always willing to help if needed.

This probably won't help, but Deke is really short for Zindeku it means "protective charm" in swahili. Thats not his registered name. His name describes his personallity now, but not when he was a puppy. He grew into it.
