Can I help you with your Jacket?

  • AJ was playing with a 10-week-old Red-Nose Pit Bull puppy and teaching him doggy manners at the same time. Apparently the manners part kicked in pretty quickly because it didn't take long before the pup wanted to help AJ off with his coat. :D

He's a pretty little brindle guy, but the owner got a bit annoyed with me when I laughed at him for saying his pup will grow to be 200 pounds. (10 stone, 90 kg)

  • What a great picture..yes 200 lbs is a bit much..

  • my mom has a red nose/ dalmation mix….no where near 200lbs...more like 65 haha

  • That's a great picture. What a beautiful pup! AJ sure looks mighty handsome in his coat.

  • I love pits..they are are wonderful dog..wish folks treated them as well as they should be treated.

  • Great pic :)

  • Great pic, AJ! Don't you love it when people tell you stuff about dog breeds that is completely off-the-wall? And you try to correct them, they either laugh or get mad? Someone asked me once if Lana (my tri B girl) is a German Shepherd/Chihuahua mix!!! I laughed, and said no, she is a basenji, they told me I am making it up, there's no such breed!

  • I got frustrated when I took my b-girl in to get groomed and the groomer asked "oh is she a basenji mix." No she's a full blooded basenji. She just looked at me like yeah, right.. Well at least she had the basenji part right and didn't call her a terrier mix.

I get this all the time with my B mix, people say aww what a cute husky/lab mix or pit bull/terrier mix, just something not even close to what she is…i have people at the groomer look at me like i have no idea what im talking about....crap like this drives me crazy and just makes me realize that the general public is like 50 IQ points lower than the rest of us :)

  • AJ is most often compared to a Jack Russell. When I tell them he is a hound, I see the most incredulous looks on people's faces. It's actually comical.

  • Oh beautifull puppy, and nice AJ! Wish pit's where allowed here - I love the breed.

I ones got told my rough collie I had at the time was a beautifull girl, when I told him that the dog was a boy he didn't believe me… Would think I knew the sex of my own dog...

Just a note to mention that if the picture is too large the upload may not be successful. It's easy to downsize pictures. You may have an application that came with your camera that will do this. Alternatively there are a lot of free programs on line that you can use. Just be sure to work on a copy of the original, or "save as" under a different name, as you don't want to overwrite the original file. I always downsize pictures to post or to email.

Okay Alex, I'm not quite doubting the "helping part"... but I am fairly sure some "sunning" and "waiting to sample" is also part of the plan!

I agree, I see cattle dog/heeler in there. I really don't see basenji but I really like the picture with that happy, goofy smile…looks like a happy boy to me! Of it helps, I reached my conclusion based on the thickness of the ears (regardless of the fact that they stand), the coat type is thicker and has feathering at the back end which you can see on the "zane2" picture...the muzzle is thicker and bolder than a basenjis which tend to be more refined. Lastly, the body type seems thicker and stockier than the lean that is a basenji. All my opinion but I figure rather than just saying yes or no maybe you'd get more out of knowing the "whys" behind my answer

I have a friend with golden labs. She doesn't set the plates down after dinner every night but doesn't stop them if they try to get some licks in as she loads the washer. I have to point to those things at the ends of my arms for a washer and, even though I use the hottest water I can stand with the playtex on I still don't let the boy eat off the human plates. If he's to get a little something it's hand fed or in his bowl. If I had a dishwasher that might be different, but…. Similar joke....a guy goes to visit a friend in a cabin with no hot running water, the friend asks... so do you have to heat water when you do dishes and the host says no I just use cold water...."here Coldwater":D
