I think most of us animal lovers are very hard on ourselves. I believe that our beloved critters are looking down on us, saying "Hey, you did the best for me when I was well, and we will be together again, one day, so lets remember the good times!". Major hugs to all you folks. I think your all wonderful!

Lillie did the same the other day. It was a tube of bacitracin ointment. No ointment came out, just a punctured tube and a chewed up lid.:D Jodie:)

Dearest Ruby, Here's all you have to do. Be a stealthy, secret type 'senji and sneak into your Mom's wallet. See those plastic cards with all the numbers on them? Snag one quick! Ok, now procede to the computer. Paw in Ebay in the search engine. They sell EVERYTHING under the sun on Ebay - even cashmere hoodies, I'll bet. Quickly order up the new hoodie and make sure to rush shipping on it! Now insert the plastic numbers card back into your Mom's wallet and delete the history in your computer. Now just wait a few days and the UPS/ Fed-Ex/USPS delivery will make your Mom overjoyed and she'll forget all about the previous chewed up cashmere hoodie. As a side note, make sure to guard the mailbox for a few weeks after this occurance and "convienetly" shred any bills that come in with the numbers and name from the plastic card on it! Viola! Happy Mom, new hoodie, hopefully more snacks - and she'll never know it was you who did it!!!! ;) :D :) Yours in secret stealthiness, Stormie the undercover 'senji

My Basenji is a mix, but she LOVES water- when it comes to swimming. She loves baths as long as you're touching her. She HATES rain. I have to carry her outside in the rain. But when we take her out hiking, she'll go swimming in creeks or lakes, and she loves swimming in the lake at the shelter when I take her out there. Her first swimming experience with me was an accident- guy had a lab and a weimernainer (don't know how to spell it) and was throwing balls in the lake for them to get. The 2 big dogs went after the ball, and Lucy went after them. She SCREAMED when she found herself in the lake, I had to jump in after her. But ever since then, she loves it. If I take her to the edge to sniff the water first and do a little paddle on the shore, she'll chase the ball right into the lake without an issue.

My Basenji would never be able to do it. She loves to swim, but isn't that nice with other dogs. My Husky mix would totally love it though. :) We'd have to use a crane to get him back out. I have a "doggy swim day" almost everyday. The shelter I work with built a lake out back, and on the hot days we let all the dogs go play in it.

Well Belle is starting to show signs of not taking Champs alpha behavior. She won't allow him to steal her bones (out of her mouth like he wants) and has fought back when he won't stop trying to dominate her. She will share her stuff but won't allow him to demand it from her anymore. We let them work it out and actually like seeing her give him a piece of his own medicine. Unfortunantly we are still crating her since she is not 100% potty trained and since they are still fighting we don't want to leave them out when we are now home. She doesn't like the crate and won't go in on her own even if we put the treats inside. She won't eat or drink while crated either. This morning I forgot something and ran back inside the house to find her shivering in her crate. Poor Belle but what can we do?….As for everything she is fitting in perfectly!

So, we did decide to get the kitten and it's been a couple weeks since we brought him home. He is about 6 months old at this point. Zuri loves to chase him and they play quite a bit….sometimes rougher that I would like but when Tony is fed up, he goes in his cat tree out of Zuri's reach....and well, when Zuri is fed up...wait a minute, that never happens. Anyway, so far all is going quite well. Brenda

I have two females and two males that live together without problems. I have another female that has to be separated from the other two females and can only be with her male buddy. So I've had to separate into two packs. I have a mutt(short legged basenji:D ) that has seen all the basenjis come into the fold, four of the basenji's I trust around her two I don't. They're all different IMO. Male and female pairings seem to just work out the best. Raising them together as pups up's the odds for success, but things can certainly change as they get older. @Duke: LOL - Me neither! I have heard for years that Vermont is one of the best "must see" Fall color tour places. So, nala121498 . . . If not at your beautiful abode, somewhere that could accomodate many Basenji and their people?? :) Trip of lifetime for me anyway. I just loved the wonderful pics that BBoy posted. You are so gratious and kind to share the pics! Of course - we love pictures. Did I say pictures? :D Yes! Thanks! I'd love to have it here (DH, maybe not! I could send him on a trip for a few days - LOL!)! Anytime you'd like to plan a trip here, just let me know. :)

Mine like the Buster Cube, and similar balls that hold kibble. Also stuffed animals (garage sales, thrift stores), and the anmials that make repeating noises with a squeeze. Nicky likes baby toys, like the ones that you pull a cord and it plays music. They have favotire stuffed toys they have had for years, and others die quickly. Nicky loves to steal my shoes and eat them, my husband bought her a purse of her own at a garage sale, lovely leather. She has been slowly working on it for many months, knows it is HERS. Mine have almost never liked real dog toys. Anne in Tampa

I think that's 25 mg, and it is safe to give 1 every 6-8 hours after a bite, according to my veet. I'm sure giving 2 would be fine, especially the first dose. It is a pretty benign drug, might make them sleepy or, horrors, have the reverse effect and make them wild! A great drug to have on hand, either liquid , tablet or capsule, for stings and allergies. some airlines will allow your pets in the passenger area. Cairo was flown down in a kennel under the passenger's seat. He was the size that would fit in a shoe box then, but hey…a little yodeling would be great for a trip to the alps.

I haven't used any of these facilities (we live in TN), but I found them all on the internet: http://www.continentalboarding.com/ http://www.allwags.com/ http://www.trdoggiedaycare.com/ http://www.bichonpetsitting.com/ http://www.charlottekennels.com/services-daycare.asp You might check out dogster.com. They have a local section where someone in Charlotte might have posted a review on one of these daycares or on another one I haven't listed. Hope this helps.
