Full Moon woes (or why it pays to have a sense of humor as a b owner!)

I'll let my darling little angel boy, Stormie, tell this "tail" of full moon mischief. It seems devil horns sprouted on his sweet, little red and white noggin while I was at work today.
Here's his Dogster Diary entry for today:

_Mom is now officially convinced that the moon phases affects our behavior.
Case in point?
Mom came home from work today feeling icky and stuffy and sneezy. Her plan was to make a cup of hot herbal tea and lay down down for a nap with her beloved little dogs.
HA!
Instead, she'll be dragging out the carpet steam cleaner.
Wanna know why?
(of course you do! lol!)
'Cuz today me and Nikki conspired with the cats and hit the sugar mother load!
The cats knocked a brand new bottle of unopened pancake syrup to the floor off the kitchen counter.
Nik and I know a good thing when we see it! We dragged the bottle into the living room and set out to chew the lid off.
And we did!
And now the carpet has a nice sticky, gloppy, syrupy stain on it!
The syrup?
Seemed like a good idea at the time, but in reality, it didn't taste so hot!
We didn't eat much of it at all. Mom's grateful for that at least.
She said if she's sick, she can't handle doggies with a stomach ache, too!
Humph!
(she's so selfish like that sometimes!)
So what about you, fellow pups?
Does the full moon affect your behaviors?
Do the little devil horns poke out of your head when the night sky is bright?
Spill the kibble!
Tell Momma and me your moon related tails!
(seems she'd like a giggle at the expense of somepup else for a change! lol!)

-Stormie - there ain't no devil horns on this noggin!_

HOW Funnyโ€ฆ if you weren't sick that is. Still a typical basenji story!!! Thanks for making me smile!!!

Mommy says my horns poke out ALL the time... I'm good.. when I'm sleeping!!!

HA!!! Who says dogs & cats can't work togetherโ€ฆwe better not let this story get out folks otherwise we're ALL in trouble if the felines & the canines start conspiring against the humans!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I can just see it too!! That is funny!

Basenji Mix

RWF - Loved the humorous spin on your "full moon" story. What a dreadful job it must have been to clean up. Chewing cap off a syrup bottle reminded me of when Daisy chewed a cap off a bottle of dietary supplements. Remember, "Patience is a virtue." is a Basenji blessing.

I am not sure what to attribute it to, but my B used to be just fine let free in my room, but two days ago he went and got my iPod cord off my desk and ate it apart down to the last little wire inside the cord. Now I am going to go back to crating him when I leave my apartment and my roommies can't watch him.

I like to chew when I am bored! The other day I chewed through my Moms cordless phone a/c adapter (again- this is 3โ€ฆso she went and ordered 2 more) I then chewed the lamp cord (yeah, this is # 2) and I then chewed the cord from her beautiful stainless steel retro looking crosley phone she treated herself to when she bought her house that I am slowly chewing down. This was her wall phone in the kitchen and normally she tucks the cord up on the counter when she leaves, but the kitten helped on this one. It was so pretty and showed my attention to detail the way I chewed apart each little loop. She has no idea what was even on the floor until she saw the big part missing form the cord.
I hemmed her curtain for her the other day and cut a little square out of the blanket on my bed.
I kinda felt bad when she came home and saw how busy I had been in one day. She was almost in tears from a bad day at work anyway and didnt get to appreciate my attempt at redecorating. She is also phoneless now (until parts come in)and couldnt call anyone to vent to. All I know is that she said she was taking me to Grandmas for my own good, she picked me up much later that evening.
Now she chuckles when she leaves for work and tells me to have fun chewing on stuff. All I know is that the curtains, blanket hole, and lamp cord now taste like SH!T  (must be that spray?)
I will just wait to see what the new phone cords taste like when they get here....
It is a good thing I know she loves me,
Squiggy
Signing off and going to get another drink of water

JYS - yup, I swear the cats use bribery on the dogs to keep them in line! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Jen W - you're welcome! Smiles are always good!

Duke - that patince quote has gotten me through many a-basenji day! ๐Ÿ˜‰

nomrbddgs ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

etzsbeder - my computer cords have been ransacked more than once! I've replaced the printer cable and the keyboard all in one week! yikes!

Squiggy - you sound like Storm's kinda dog!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You must all stop confessing to these alleged transgressions. I've got my mom fully convinced that my human brother is the culprit. I would not stoop so low! She is getting worried (suspicious?) about how that boy likes to tear up kleenex and dryer sheets, though. The torn-up evidence is always found in his room! I'll never tell! She trusts me more than the boy! MWAH-HA-HA!!!

Well, I was getting no attention the other day and Dad forgot about me and left my brother's room door open. He is grown and living away but I do still like to go to his room b/c he doesn't have room in his apartment for all his COOL stuff. He has lots of chewable stuff, and I especially loved his new sheets. They smelled real good, and tasted much better. I had the best chewing time, but Good God Miss Molly, Dad came in and taught me. He said, "Sahara what are you doing, Mommie is going to be soooooooo mad at you". Actually, I think Dad should get in trouble, He knows I like to chew and he left the door open. Besides, where am I going to get money to buy new King size sheets:eek: . These humans put too much pressure on me, what is a Basenji to do. Queen Sahara๐Ÿ†’

Magnum dude you have it all figured out! Too bad I don't have any hooman siblings to blame my antics on! And YUM tissues! I hit the mother load when Mom got this cold - it's tissue heaven 'round here! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Sahara you are the master!! Training your Daddy to leave the "chew room" door open and having him take the fall! I bow to the Queen! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And what is the obsession with new sheets do ya think? I love to dig them until they're no longer recognizable as sheets - more like pretty ratty dust rags! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

-Stormie - wanting to form an alliance called Bad Basenji Brigade! ๐Ÿ˜‰

oh, P.S. - Mom pulled out the love seat and sofa to vaccuum today and guess what she found??? The (slightly chewed) cap from the syrup bottle!!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ™‚ HAHA!!

There you go . . . a good cleaning solves many mysteries - yes?

Since we're confessingโ€ฆ.

As any good girly girl I love love love shoes! My mom knows this..right mom?! ๐Ÿ™‚ Well dads shoes are the best because they have yummy laces AND they're 100% leather ummm umm. Dad bought new shoes for a wedding this weekend and left them out the closet for ME. I figured he didn't like the laces so I ate them up for him ๐Ÿ˜ƒ :D...when my mom caught me...she said OH NO TOPAZ  your dad is going to get your teeth removed!!..uh oh! She ran to the store to get the laces to replace them before he noticed. I hope my teeth are safe ๐Ÿ˜ž

Haโ€ฆthat is too funny! Your Mommy is so smart! I'm sure your teeth are safeโ€ฆfor now.

As any good Basenji Mom would do, JYS1011 you are surely one of the good ones. I would do the same as Dad always says Sahara is Mom's when I get in trouble, but Daddy's Girl when I am good!!!!! What's with that:eek:  .

Deke here..you guys are crazy. As long as mom closes all room doors, cleans up my human sisters' toys closes the Pantry door, puts up a gate or two, and puts the trash can up ON the counter in the kitchen I'm an angel !!!!!!!!!! Luckily I grew out of the shoe thing she had to hide those for a few years too. I did find my two legged sisters outsideโ€ฆshe left them there for me right? It was good. Heres a good one. When I was little mom thought she could get something done if she gated me in the Kitchen. Ha I showed her I POOPed right in her shoe. They taught her not to ignore me.

For some excellent tips all you fur kids out there should have someone read the book "Rou's Tips For Basenjis" to you. Many handy tips from hints on handling toilet paper to - well just about anything a B would like to learn!! Seriously it's a super cute book! I just got it today and it is hilarious!! You can get it at www.roudog.com.

Topaz - SHEW! That was CLOSE! So glad you have an excellent Momma lookin' out for your dental well-being! ๐Ÿ™‚

Deke - B(arooing)M(y)T(ail)O(ff)!!!! Way to teach your Mom a lesson about baby gates!!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ™‚

Kebasmom - I took tips from the master herself. Here's a picture of me reading Rou's book:

What a wonderful picture! Did you let your dog read the WHOLE book?!? Oh wait - it doesn't matter - I think all Bs are born knowing everything in that bookโ€ฆ..

Kebasmom - yup, I agree - I view Rou's book as a training manual for the hoomans in the basenji's life! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
