      HAHA I have a different situation, my husband usually HOGS the bed and steals all my space and tries to share my pillow with me! I love it when my basenji sleeps in bed with us, because my husband stays in his spot! Is that silly?

      To those of you that are having problems with mouthing, holding the muzzle is not a good solution. Substitute a toy for your "body parts" or totally ignore the pup and the minute that the pup settles down, praise.

      @Knipper:

      That's cute! Cricket does not subscribe to the slow stealthy approach. It's all about as much destruction as possible in the shortest amount of time while I'm indisposed. Everything is done in fast forward!

      Kalani waits until my back is turned and the second it is he gets into mischief. As soon as I look at him he freezes with the thought of either "if I don't move he can't see me" or "what, I wasn't doing anything". I'm not sure which, but it is one of them.

      @Kosuzu:

      I will get into agility when he is a little older, his bones are still too immature for that yet. I would also like to get Khalani into becoming a "therapy" dog as he has a beautiful nature, He can't be assessed for that until he is at least 18 months old.
      You must tell me more about the "skateboard", does he ride it? Have you ever videoed your agility, I'd love to see that.

      There are a few youtube videos of Zest! doing agility. Just seach "Zest Agility" and the r/w little basenji is mine. Those are all from her Novice days. She's now in Excellent. We've had quite a few set backs, but she has achieved her excellent agility titles in AKC. You can see my other 2 here:
      https://www.basenji.org/BasenjiU/Activities/Agility/AOb/stacles.html

      All but the dogs on the table are mine. Zest is also the star of the Agility Manuevers videos.

      Hopefully, you'll be able to find a local agility class. There are lots of foundation work you can do with puppies before you start doing jumps and weaves.

      The other two (Digital the brindlewonderkid and Jet the trying) are retired, but have certainly done a lot.

      Therapy work is so rewarding! You'll love it. Z and I are off to the Alzheimer's facility tomorrow. Both my boys also really loved it.

      CrazySenji

      Just 20 minutes ago Elliot was extra excited and running around and when he saw me he was SO excited he gave me a little kiss! I put a command to it ("kiss" lol) and praised him. I asked for another and he did it again! He got bored after the 5th or so time but I hope he remembers it!

      My Cody used to LOVE wet hair. If you sat down on the couch after a shower he would crawl behind you and rub himself on your head. It was both funny and annoying (much like a lot of basenji quirks).

      Lela has always howled like a little wolf, but her full blown yodel is pretty recent ( she is 2,5 y. now). Usually when she feels left alone or doesn't see us.
      Binti (3,5 y.) howls a bit too, but less than Lela - she screams much more (at cats). She also has a deep humming sound, not unlike a small outboard engine that is not quite running properly. We hear that a lot when preparing her meals.
      We hear from other owners that every individual has a different repertoire.

      @Buddys:

      Hi Kosuzu! I am replying with just my own experience. I only know a little about the local club I visited. There were no mixed breeds, all sight hounds, and a few hounds, the ridgbacks were real popular in the club, and one either needed papers to prove breed, (i never did get the akc papers promised by the previous owner) or I was told if my boy really looked obvious then he could compete. I am not interested in ribbons or placement really (but running the fastest time is exciting!) First Uzie would go against juniors in a class to ensure no aggression during the run of 750yards. Then go against the others in a duo and trio run. But things won't start up til it gets cooler here in Florida.
      I have a mini lure courser. It is ok, have to make sure the line doesn't get back washed on the spool though. here is a link, but if you can afford a bigger self winding machine-or get one made….then I think it is better then having to wind it up after each run of 150feet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7nqKp3rQ78&NR=1&feature=endscreen There are others out there too: http://wickedcoursing.com/products.html Good Luck! have fun!!!

      Thanks for the info and the link. I am thinking of getting the Lure Baby from Wicked Coursing. The only thing I have to consider is that the States has 110volt and Australia has 240volt. I think I need some kind of power converter and plug adapter. I will do some more research on that.

      Yes!! Bowpi loves to "box" when she gets excited. But she doesn't have much follow-through. It's adorable. I'm not quite sure what she's thinking. I take it as an expression of her excitement and desire to be involved. She usually starts boxing when our Shiba tries to roughhouse with her, or when the Shiba is roughhousing with other humans – and she inserts herself into the mix.
