Lure coursing

I am very interested in getting into lure coursing. Anything that makes my B tired can only be good…lol. It is much more popular in the U.S.A than it is here in Australia. There are a few clubs here but they are very far away from where I live.
I have been researching machines and it seems all things point to wicked coursing machines in the States. I would like to purchase one and donate it to my obedience club so we can all benefit from it. Does anyone here do lure coursing or know anything about it?

First Basenji's

Hi Kosuzu! I am replying with just my own experience. I only know a little about the local club I visited. There were no mixed breeds, all sight hounds, and a few hounds, the ridgbacks were real popular in the club, and one either needed papers to prove breed, (i never did get the akc papers promised by the previous owner) or I was told if my boy really looked obvious then he could compete. I am not interested in ribbons or placement really (but running the fastest time is exciting!) First Uzie would go against juniors in a class to ensure no aggression during the run of 750yards. Then go against the others in a duo and trio run. But things won't start up til it gets cooler here in Florida.
I have a mini lure courser. It is ok, have to make sure the line doesn't get back washed on the spool though. here is a link, but if you can afford a bigger self winding machine-or get one made….then I think it is better then having to wind it up after each run of 150feet

There are others out there too: http://wickedcoursing.com/products.html Good Luck! have fun!!!

Thanks for the info and the link. I am thinking of getting the Lure Baby from Wicked Coursing. The only thing I have to consider is that the States has 110volt and Australia has 240volt. I think I need some kind of power converter and plug adapter. I will do some more research on that.
