Ever seen a B that "learned" to bark?

Basenji Talk
  • Abby makes a noise every once in a while that could be thought of as a bark, but what I think she does is she yodels but cuts it off short so it could sound like a bark! My new baby that I am fostering to adopt doesn't make any noise at all except when he yawns. Now I do have a dog that does bark (enough for all my dogs) but Abby has never caught on to it. However Abby did teach her how to sing! We live in a community that still has a whistle for our volunteer fire department and everyday at noon the whistle goes off, at first Missy would just bark and bark then when I got Abby she sings to the whistle and now Missy does too. I'm hoping she will teach Cooper how to sing as well! :)

  • Abby Basenji..what a sweet story..I would love to hear my dogs sing along to a whistle.

  • Me too. We had a Siberian Husky mix growing up in NJ and she always sang with the noon or the fire whistle.
I hope you hear the sweet sounds of Cooper singing soon…

Does anyone know of a website that shows you how to trim a b's tail? Or, should that be left to doggie grooming 'experts'? Kipawa's tail is lovely now, but any bushier and I think I might want to tidy it up.

Great job Crystal and Cody:). Macpac says it all when it was stated "Kudos to you for teaching him to love and be happy. " We sometimes forget that the baby-step advances with an in home raised puppy (as difficult as that is at times) is really nothing compared to the difficulties and patience needed when an older dog, abused, neglected, or just plain unwanted/emotionally devoid Basenji is adopted in a home. Baby steps for others, can be a GIANT grand canyon type leap for a rescue/rehome and their family. Congratulations for jumping the Grand Canyon:D

Neither of mine will catch food, it hits them in the face and falls to the floor too. They're both pretty good at catching toys when I tell them to but do get bored with that game rather qiuckly.

I have seen the people who have dogs in the large crates weighed at check in. Only because it was a large carrier. Honestly I would carry her because it gives the appearance that they are lighter then they appear.

Sahara does not like the dark either, I have to go out with her for her evening potty runs. She gets out there and if I am there she will go in the front or back, but will look around the side of the house to make sure I am still there. She is so funny.
