We've had two Basenjis live to 17, one only got to age 3 before she died from cancer and our last one died last year aged 14 1/2 but he had been I'll for 7 years with epilepsy, went blind and also developed kidney disease and finally succumbed from a combination of all plus a moth tumour. However, he was the best tempered and softest Basenji you could imagine. We still miss him terribly.

Just an FYI: this post was started by @Roseys_Mom in 2006. I have no idea why, but she hasn't logged back in to the Forum since then. Every year or so, the thread grows. It seems to have taken on a life of it's own. :) I'm sorry to hear that you had to return your little girl due to illness and hope you find a new little one to cuddle with.

Nor am I ! You take on a dog, that dog is your responsibility for its life - or yours. Throwing it back onto a rescue centre - I'm frankly appalled. Are you expecting someone else to take it on ? Or are you just sentencing it to a lonely end ?
