I'm having a hard time finding a bed for the basenji I'm getting soon (a 3yo, so he'll be full size). It's not easy to tell if it will be a good fit for a bed as I'm looking primarily online and the sizing isn't obvious (a lot of dimensions don't take into account the padded sides). Anyone have any suggestions?

Dont worry a basenji will rip apart any bed :-) the size is not important, the bigger the better.

They can't rip a Tuffie! (See thread "Butu's Bed") It might be worth contacting them to see if they'll ship to the States….

Queen sized. King may be better, but i'm not sure it would have fit in my room. ;-)

Mine all like dog-beds with soft sides much better than flat- type beds, and they curl up in them so they don't have to be huge, I would guess mine are about 2 1/2 by 2 feet in size.

I love cave beds :)
I just wish they actually folded down farther…so they are totally "underneath"

You can get them through the Drs.Foster&Smith catalog, or on their website…...They are a great idea but they should fold over more - my girl would not feel covered enough in it -she still expects one of us to totaly cover her with the blanket. Not spoiled at all. Grrrrrrr

Is the 'cave' part supported by a hoop? Or do they crawl under it?

The edge is supported. As to washing, I think the covers come off and are washable.

Cave bed is on order! I am hoping they will like it and sleep in it instead of crowding me in our bed. I ordered the large one. That should be good for two dogs?

It says they ship here now: http://www.tuffies.co.uk/
I have had dogs that could rip sheepskin. :(
Aside from bedding, I'd like one of these: http://pinterest.com/pin/233131718182097345/

The Pinterest bed is Amazing! All it would need is an adjustable heatingpad/thermostat and some blankets and the might even stay there on their own accord! LOL.

Excellent news, Debra, thanks! I can guarantee that the Indestructible Bed really is - if you have enough room, you really won't regret it…the nest type is also undamaged...
