    I will post plenty of pictures! Last week I went and he was the puppy that fell asleep on my lap, I knew then I had to have him….Ive waited three years for this and I don't know what to do with myself now that it's coming in a week! He is the only one in the litter that doesn't have his ears up yet, one day they are up and the next they are down..he can't make up his mind :rolleyes:

    And interesting about B ears is that when they lose the baby teeth (never fast enough..ggg) their ears can fall again… and their tails can go straight....

    In my very first litter, at 9wks, I had one puppy who's ears didn't stand up... I think that it took till he was almost 11wks for them to be up and stay up.

    Thanks everyone, I am beyond excited. I will be visiting again on Sunday….one last visit before I take him home!! Tanza, very interesting about their ears; I think Oakley will take some time before his stay up...I have a fondness for red and whites but I really find him stunning but I guess I am partial :rolleyes: Next year I will be getting a red and white female so the thought of the two of them next to each other will be the completion of a dream a long time in the making! I almost can't believe he will be here so soon!!:D

    @lvoss: Well, I know how at least one of the Moon names was picked because she is my girl. Rally is Sherwood's Shadow of the Moon. She is the black and white daughter of Red Moon Rising so it seemed fitting that she would be the Shadow of the Moon. Her siblings are Sherwood's Spirit of The Moon and Sherwood's Eclipse of the Moon. Nicky is from Robyn's Time litter, Sherwood's In The Nick of Time, and he picked his own name, all his kids have Time in their names. Very interesting. Thank you guys for being so participant in this forum. Its so very interesting to me to see and hear of the different ideas and names that people come up with. Its always intrigued me. Thanks again you guys!

    @nkjvcjs: If you go before nationals you will get to meet BCOSW's rescues too. -Nicole Yep, we are going within this month. I'll give the rescue dogs and extra squeeze!

    Welcome to the forum circlemama, i understand how you feel about taking the Pup away from family because we felt exactly the same a few weeks ago. Before we picked Malaika up i kept thinking about it but knew in the back of my mind that this was the order of things, after all the breeder wasn't going to keep all the pups so staying in her canine family wasn't an option. Before we left the breeders house we told Malaika's mum we would look after her, and yes i know she didn't understand the words but i needed to say it anyway ;) Once home she oly took a few days to settle and now it's like she's always been here. Like you we considered two Pups but i'm so glad we didn't get two at once. It is a full time job looking after Malaika and having a Pup in the house again was a huge change. We do plan to get another Basenji in the future.

    I just did that with Nemo and Zoni. However, I might suggest that they meet on a more neutral area when you go down. Nemo met the puppy in the middle of strange basenji central in the breeder's house. He was a tad stressed.

    @myie: I got my boys when they were 4 months old, they're from the same litter, and I have really had no serious trouble with them. They are about 8 months old, and their personalities really keep each other occupied. The reason we got to is cuz we didn't want them to be lonely. It didn't cross my mind that two would be more of a handful than one. When I get home and greet one the other sits patiently looking up at me waiting his turn for love. Ok, this shows just how pathetically smitten I am over my pups, I try to always make sure that I greet a different boy every time so the other boy doesn't feel like I have a favorite. Wow, what an insight on myself. Are they still in-tact? If so, be prepared… breeding season is about to come on us... and 99% of Basenjis know when it is breeding season regardless if you have bitches or not... so keep your eye on them.... And it can take till they are a yr or 2 old for same sex siblings to begin having problems...
