She is so adorable! Makes me miss Shaye's puppy days, until I remember how often I prayed for her to hurry up and get older - something I still do, sometimes! Puppies are wonderful, and they are great teachers. I think by the time you live through puppyhood, whatever they do is fine, because it's "better" by comparison! LOL.
Where's AJ #8

The photo below is where we are now…Just outside Tampa, FL. After the rain cleared, it was a lovely visit.
Next stop...
City specific (this one might be a bit of a challenge)
First, the state:
The state flower and the state tree are the same species.
Over half of the battles fought in the Civil war occurred in this state.
The US Government is the single largest employer in this state with 25% of the state's workers.
The famous words "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" were spoken in this state. (extra credit for naming the speaker)
Both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars officially ended here. Now, the city:
This city is within the borders of a county, but is independent of any county.
The last Confederate shot of the Civil War was said to have been fired by a unit of soldiers from this city.
NCAA Division III holds both the football and basketball championships in this city.Cheers!

That saying was made by P.H. in R, V.

Okay the state is Virginia.
State flower and tree is the flowering or American dogwood (I'm a botanist, I know these things - AJ looks like he's in front of a sago palm but can't be sure). The Revolutionary War ended when the British surrendured at Yorktown and the Civil War ended when Lee surrendured at Appomattox. Patrick Henry said the "Give me liberty…" quote.
But for the city I'm stumped. -
DC?
maybe -
Salem, VA
Which is only about an hour and a half from me.
-
I love our history lessons we get from you Belinda..keep it up..
AJ is looking lovely as usual..
-
Richmond, VA - My grandpa's home state!??
-
You don't mention what year the DIII football team won the championship. If it was last year that would be Mount Union, Ohio.
-
I don't know whether the city ever won the DIII championships…but it is the venue for the games.
Jarodkjv gave the right answer.
BTW: Never said where the last one was, although everyone pretty much got it...we went to Miami, where Miami Vice and CSI: Miami are "based." Love the smell of jasmine. I think that's what the sweet smell was while I was there.

Mr. Nobarkus, you get the extra credit for the Patrick Henry answer…three extra tail wags and a lick on the nose from Buddy.

Forgot to say…The Salem Flying Artillery was said to have fired the last Confederate shot in the Civil War.
Another interesting fact about Salem City is that while it is politically independent of Roanoke County, the County Courthouse of Roanoke County is in Salem City. Go figure.
