  • It looks like the seatbelt goes through the handle loop on the back??
This is where I had problems with EL D with another brand getting tangled up.

For this one I'll need to get seatbelt adapter to attach to the harness and the seatbelt will go through the adapter that is attached to the harness not the harness itself(i.e. the thing attached to the harness in this picture…...http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk/images/safety-harness.jpg

Hopefully this will give him sufficient amount of room to readjust his sitting postion and not get tangled.

  • It IS a very cool looking harness! Can you envision the startled B who is lifted straight up into the air! Ha! Good to remove from the middle of fights…but not really what you want to think about happening you your walks :(

  • What is the price of this harness? It looks very nice!

  • Is it easy to put on? It looks like there are three snaps (buckles?). Does it go over the head? What about size? What size did you get your pup? It looks like it gives room for good adjustments around the waist.

I would probably use it for a seat harness but I'm wondering if it's hard to get on and off them. Usually when I have Talker strapped in with his harness, when I take him out of car, I put his regular walking leash on. He steps out of harness pretty easily. He has the one that has the fake fur around the straps and I'm always wondering if that's too hot.

Is the one that you have light weight? breathable mesh?

Very interested in your responses. Thanks for sharing.

    The size I purchased(XS) was $49 + Shipping = around $55 total.
I think every size is the same price however.

    To Laura

Ill post a detailed reply later today as I'm about to leave for work now…. check back around 7 tonight.

  • Thanks! I'll check back for your response.

Oh and how much does your dog weigh? I have Talker who is almost 30 lbs. and Savannah who is 22 lbs.

Sometimes these harnesses seem like they're built for bigger dogs; especially this one. Thanks!

  • First of all sorry for the belated post(busy day)…..
    He weighs 25-28lbs
They make 'em to fit even smaller then Decker.....
I have an XS go to this link to look at their sizes.

1 After the initial adjustments are made it's a breeze to put on…....
    2 Two buckles.... look below
3 There are 5 adjustment points makeing for a secure, snug fit.

    Taking the harness off…....

So light I was concerned the package was empty when the UPS dude handed it my way. :()

Not Mesh but still breathable….. we've been on several bike rides and he seems to start panting at the same point he did when not wearing it. Hence, no signs of over heating.

  • Thank you for the detail pictures. Excellent. I guess I would also get a XS for Talker and a XXS for Savannah. This really appears to be a nice alternative for the car. Thank you again!

I don't like harnesses. I read something recently that putting them on too young a puppy can do nasty things to their shoulder formation as they grow. MUCH better to use a Gentle Leader as a training tool or as @eeeefarm suggests, a martingale collar. That way you control the head of your dog and can train it properly.

@Jarodkjv: Since someone is always home with the dogs a better choice may be the Playsafe collar, it is designed for daycare type settings. It won't open by itself but it has velcro tabs that can be pulled open easily even if the dogs are tangled up. The advantage would be that you could use it to hold them without worrying about it accidently opening. But it's not really designed to have a leash hooked to it so you would have to put a regular collar on them if you were going to take them out. That looks like a great alternative and I do think I'll give them a try. Although the dogs wear regular collars in the house, we always use martingales or sporn harnesses when we walk them. I found the website interesting and was fascinated by the dog cold weather gear. Don't need it here but it was still fascinating. @k9collars: I'm not sure you'll be able to stop this problem with the harnesses. Often times, hair loss is from the hairs getting into the weave of the webbing and then it being plucked out. For that problem, you'll need a fabric against their skin that would be of a tight enough weave that the hairs can't get into the weave. Second problem is the friction. The dog is continually in motion rubbing, while the harness is stationary. Back and forth, back and forth. Nylon webbing may not be abrasive when touched, but over time it will have the effect you've noticed. Perhaps a softer lining might work (satin, polar fleece), but over a long distance, it too may have the same result. Time to reach outside the Basenji family to find rollerbladers that take their dogs with them. They must've come across this problem. Nick Lexington, KY Thats what is great about Ruff Wear they really go above and beyond to prevent the friction wear and the hair being pulled out too

I got one made for Ruby from Around the Hounds…it is absolutely gorgeous and really well made. http://www.aroundthehounds.com/c237431.2.html I sent measurements to them to double check on the size. They were really nice and helpful, it took about 3 weeks (they were out of town for a week) from the day I placed the order.

I think an original idea should be developed that is associated with bs. The weims dressed up is so classic for them. Bs should somehow be associated with messes. Maybe they should be paired with new furniture advertising or TP sales!!! Weims became so popular tho, they are having probs in rescue. They are very high energy and most people can't give them enough exercise. I think my idea would prevent Bs from becoming too popular and lots more ending up in rescue. :D
