Hello from South London, UK!

Hiya everyone! We're Brittney and Geroge, and we've been using Basenji Forums as a research reference for the last 10 months, since we started considering a Basenji :). The information is so valuable, especially for first time Basenji owners like ourselves, so we're incredibly grateful for the Forums.
Juno joined us two days ago and we wanted to introduce him officially :). He's a really loving little guy who already loves taking naps on the sunny spot on our couch, enjoys snuggling and looking out the window and of course has plenty of energy for play! He's settled in surprisingly well in his first 48 hours and we look forward to many adventures to come with him.
Would also love to hear if there are other Basenji owners in London (South London even better right now), as once he's old enough and lockdown's ended it would be wonderful for him to meet others!

He’s adorable! I’m currently living in South London and have been researching the breed, with thanks to this forum. I hope to get on a waiting list soon and look forward to joining the owners community and meet up with others soon! Any other useful resources for the breed is greatly welcomed.

Why do I think Juno's brother is currently sitting on my feet, sleeping after a long walk in the woods. We walked, he was carried in a sling, but he met lots of people and saw all kinds of strange shaped dogs, some with long hair, some like him (but nothing as tiny as Kito).
He will learn recall as soon as he is allowed to progress to the ground just as his half-brother, Mku did. We can't deprive Mku of his hunting trip just because his half-sibling has taken up residence.
We collected Kito a week early and had our vet do his microchipping and initial shots, etc, because of my eye surgery. I needed him to be home and established while I could still see him -
OK, that accounts for 4 of the 7. Wonder if the others will show up.

@scott-ry Wonderful that you're thinking of getting a Basenji and sounds like you're doing your research, too! Once he's a bit older and socialising we'd be happy to introduce him if you'd like to meet a Basenji before making a final decision :smiling_face:. We'll stay in touch through the forum.

@zande Hi Sally, what a lovely coincidence that you have one of Juno's brothers :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes: Kito sounds like a sweet little guy! Is he the tri-colour? Glad to hear you were able to collect him ahead of your eye surgery and I hope he's settling in very well :heart_suit:

@bjenkins33 No - Mku is a tri so I wanted a red/white. The tri has gone to a countryman of the breeders. Another red girl is in South London with someone who contacted me back last March.
Eye surgery went well, thanks - but now I can't wait to be able to get my eyes tested for proper glasses. I have been buying readers on the recommendation of @JENGOSMonkey - so far have 4 different ones - but although I can even see to drive in daylight now, my arms are not long enough to see anything close up. Which itself is a bit of an oxymoron ! Reading, cooking, eating, measuring out dog food, pouring a glass of wine, all take a different strength reading glasses !
Computer work isn't too bad, I can sit far enough away from the monitor and still just about reach the keyboard !

@chenke I am a photographer, wearing another hat - putting pictures on the Forum means you lose the copyright. I can't afford that. No pictures of Kito OR Mku !!

@tanza Do you think many people realise that ? Loss of copyright is serious. Passing it over means someone else could make money from your work even if you don't want to.

@zande I've looked into this, but it doesn't concern me too much. I'm not a professional. I don't make a living from my pictures. And, I don't plan to.
Basenji's are something I REALLY enjoy. Part of the enjoyment is sharing mine with other people. If a person wants to they can strip the photo of all EXIF data. There are tools all over to help do that. A person can also Watermark their photos, which serves as a reminder to people that the photo "may" be copyrighted. The most important protection is to the register the photo with the appropriate agency ensuring that it's copyrighted. In the US, a violation entitles the copyright owner something like $25,000 per instance, plus attorney fees.
There's a lot of things in life that concern me. This just isn't one of them. But, I understand not everyone feels that way and that's perfectly ok too.
