Before people will fall of their chair: Of course, I made this picture with a little help from my friend Corel draw :D :D

  • Nice work! I would have guessed Photoshop. :)

  • :D There were actually people asking me if I were insane to let my dog play with a lion :D

  • It looks like Chaffie is going to take a hunk out of the lion's hindquarter!!! Too funny!!!!

  • Hahahaha! Nice work. It looks very realistic other than the lion is a little small….... I always ask my dogs...what would you do in Africa? and they look at me like....well you would feed and take care of me of course.

  • laugh

I am very amused by this – especially because people frequently ask me if Basenjis were used to hunt lions. And I usually think... It's a nice myth, but I don't really believe it, and anyway, it doesn't matter because there's no way in hell I would let my dogs run loose with lions!

  • @Buana:

LOL Kim….. You should have responded..... "Why do you see something wrong with him playing with a big Kitty?"

  • Oh yes, the comment about basenjis killing lions. I hear that one a lot. It is almost as ridiculous as the medical doctor who was on a boat with us in Costa Rica who asked if we were going to see lions in Costa Rica. I still shake my head thinking about that. And that fact that he graduated from medical school.

  • When I had 5 basenjis, they would occasionally surround another dog and (playfully) nip at him, taking turns confusing the dog so he didn't know who to play with. I used to think, that must be how they hunt lions, they surround them and annoy them to death!

  • Forgot to add, love the photo, Kim, Chaffie is so very brave, haha!

  • Brilliant picture ! Hope he didn't hurt the Kitty :D
When we go to Scotland on holiday, everytime we walk with the dogs around Stranraer we meet the same person who tells us very confidently that Basenjis hunt Lions. We say nothing as we don't like to disillusion them :)

Thanks for the replies and ideas as to Sheba's breed. Looks like I have 2 dogs that show their main heritage but both crossed with somthing unknowen. They seem happier now and Bella has stoped her growling also(read in a thread it might be a fear reaction). Only time they get aggresive now is at feeding time. We will still feed them at the same time to eliminate favoritisim from us but Sheba will be on her fly. We have decided to alow Bella to roam the back yard as she always has. She has only got out once with some help. Some more pics… Relaxing inside:) [image: PICT2219.jpg] They never show any sign of aggression when inside but always keep an eye on where the other is. [image: PICT2222.jpg] Bella sleeps on the cusion or couch with out any problims while Sheba sleeps on the carpet in the hall outside the open bedroom doors. Nearly finished the fly run for Sheba, just need to tighten the wire when the concrete sets on the posts. The idea is simmilar to the runs used for cattle dogs, they usualy just pin the wire to the ground and the conecting chain drags on the ground. For ours I lifted the wire up off the ground in an attemp to keep some grass for her to run on. [image: PICT2223.jpg] This gives her about 12.5 x 8 mtrs(40 x 26feet) and far eisier to build than a dig proof caged run. Once we are home we give it about 10 mins and then go say hello to both dogs,at this time Sheba is taken off the run. The old vegitable patch that never grew anything will now be Sheba's digging patch with any luck(Might bury a bone each week for her to find in it).

@kiroja: LOL Kim, I had one of those too and Mojo learned to pull the string as well! Soo funny how they entertain themselves. :) Two problems though, first he would tend to chew up the plastic ring that held the string so couldn't play with it no more. And second they remade them with solid tabs for pulling which wasn't easy for the dog to grab and it was very difficult to find replacements with the original plastic ring type handle that he could hook his tooth through. I wish I would have made a video, that was priceless. Thanks! Hihihi :D They do that here exact the same… break the plastic ring.. We buy a new one the next time we see it.. The price here is around 1 dollar i think.. @kiroja: Ok, I found another good one! [yt]IUbW2i0Mc7k[/yt] This was a different type of cat toy. Mojo LOVED playing with it! It was a little electronic mouse that spun around, lighted up, and taunted the dogs. :) It was motion activated so he could keep himself occupied for a while. Although the noise did get a little annoying. lol After a while he would start chewing it, so I'd have to take it away and save it for another special moment. :) He got real good at grabbing it by the tail and whipping it around the room. Once he came a little too close to smashing it through the tv, it definitely had some weight to it! I think I used to buy them for around $6 at WalMart, so some fun and cheap entertainment. lol This one is so great! B's are so very smart!!!! Our Buana learned it from the sister of Hailey (that stayed with us for 4 months) and Chafuko learned it from Buana. Hailey learned it from Chafuko!
