Finally: Agility pictures!

  • BF took some pics yesterday during our agility training. It was still a bit too dark for really nice pics.. but now we at least have some proof of Tillo jumping ;)

Weave-poles.. although there isn't a lot 'weaving' involved in this pic :D

    Tunnel

    Some jumps

    Skinny butt :D

    Flying

    Picking up speed

    Focused on me

    More jumping

    Chute

    Happy pup

Tillo decides to take off without me.. (I'm looking like "ok.. that's an option too.." Haha..)

2nd try.. I think Tillo liked the first try better :D

    Dogwalk

    Back to jumping

    Dogwalk again

A-frame.. Tillo does everything on lure course speed.. so this one too..

    What goes up…......

    He can wait..

    Some final jumps

    And the dogwalk

We have LOTS of fun together on the agility field!! :D

  • You guys certainly look like you are having tons of fun! Tillo always looks good, but I particularly love the jumping pictures. He looks so spring-y. Way to go Tillo and Janneke!

  • Totally love those pics Janneke :D. Tillo is such an obedient boy .

  • Looks like he did great! How much do you work with Tillo?

We have agility training on wednesday and obedience training on saturday. We practice a bit on our walks, I always have some treats in my pockets. But that's more 'basic' stuff, like 'down', 'wait', 'follow' and 'here'.

And he is doing pretty good.. a couple of weeks ago he had a period where he would just keep running away at the start and go through all the tunnels.. But I think it was just a "Basenji phase".. Let's hope it doesn't come back ;)

Maybe BF could do a video of him doing the course.

We'll have to dig up the videocamera for that ;) But I'm sure BF is willing to do that.

  • Tillo is an amazing athlete, and BF got great photos of him on the course!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Very nice start - can't wait to hear more about his agility career

wow, what amazing pictures. Tillo sure is one stunning basenji…
Thank you so much for sharing.

Ahaha! Man this is cracking me up! Love the look on his face!

"Pffft, as IF I am doing that again!"

  • Love the pics! Tillo looks great! Have fun!

  • You can really see his amazing muscularity in this photo series. You keep him in such beautiful condition, Janneke. You should be very proud of the job you are doing with him!

  • Lovely pics!

  • Wonderful pics! I love to watch Tillo doing this :D He's great!

For how long did you train Agility now?
I always thought of starting it with Zuri, too. But it wouldn't be the right thing for Thabo, I think  He doesn't like to jump or be on high places

  • Thank you all for the kind responses! :)

This is our second training season. We had 12 lessons in 2009, then a winter break of 4 months and this was our 10th lesson in 2010.

And why not start with Zuri? It's a really fun sport!

  • You are doing really well with Tillo - I've always found that Basenjis excel in agility and do so enjoy it. That's obvious from the photos - I hope your pictures encourage others to give it a try!!

  • Greats pics, looks like your both doin' good at the agility course.

  • Anyone doubting the Basenji's ability to be trained for agility need only look at your pictures - he is amazing, as always. It's wonderful you can work with him so well - he is the poster boy for Basenji accomplishment.

  • oh my goodness! how awesome. such a beautiful boy, I love his smooth coat! I wish we could get Sids to look so smooth :)

Lovely pictures - he's a handsome boy. Debra - what a coincidence - I too had my first tick this year (or at least Bereke had the tick, not me) and that after more years than I care to remember. My husband remembered seeing instructions on how to remove it luckily!

Thank you, all, for the compliments! Ty's registered name is Apex Tyvola. He just turned 3 and is recently retired from the show ring. Zeenie is between 11 & 13 and is a BRAT dog originally found in Illinois: I've had her 9 years now and she is an angel (w/ horns, occasionally:rolleyes:)

Well let's just ay that Obedience is definitely out (LOL) and the fact that she'd have to listen to do Agility…hmmm....that's out too. That leaves only Lure Coursing and well, she's not fun to be with on a leash, especially around other dogs...so again...that's out! But seriously, I've often felt that I've done her (and the breed and breeder) a disservice for not registering her. I guess I'll have to wait until the next one (if I can convince my husband to get another Basenji) to rectify the matter. I never knew about the DNA studies... Thank you all for your compliments and information.
