I don't think it's a Basenji or even a mix.. only because according to AKC the first litter of Basenji puppies raised to maturity was in 1941, so it was a very new breed to our country at that time! It's a very cute dog regardless!! I can see where it can be mistaken for a Basenji mix with those adorable ears! I would love to see these pictures enhanced/in color. Very interesting find! 🙂

ROFLMAO, okay Patty you are right. They are not fool proof. They are "it gives you enough time to notice and stop their evil snakey head chewing" leashes.

I made mine. I went to home depot, got the connectors and 12 to 18 inch thin chains and put them on. The brat coordinator here was the one who told me what to do. Before that, I had a BAG full of chewed leashes sewn back together that I took with me to do home visits and show potential owners the dangers, lol.

I bought one for Blaze last year as he would walk up to the bed then whine, then make a feeble attempt to get up and we had to help him. He refused to use them! Every once in a while he still does the feeble whine thing, but usually he just takes a running jump. He's still pretty agile for 16.

We live in NC which is a little cooler, but I have seen my basenjis laying in the sun when it is 100F or when it is 40F. We can't leave them in the house all day due to destruction, but a laundry room they can go into with a dog door as well as a seperate room in the garage with a dog door. Plus we have a table with umbrealla on teh deck and they will move between full sun and any of those areas when they feel like it.

Even when we are home all day they alternate between inside and outside in teh sun.

I have the same setup. I keep Buddy, 8 months old outside with the dog door blocked as he would be destructive inside while the weather is mild. Come winter I will have to just let him have access to the laundry room only as that's where the dog door enters and keep the laundry room door to the rest of the house closed. There's also a door going into the garage.

I'll second that.. being 5 ft myself, having a bunch of ppl who are sig. taller stand all about you can be very abrasive.
