Steffie, We didn't end up going (long story…but our houseguests were still in town and then we had to take Jackpot to the vet for what we thought was a UTI...but turned out to not be a big deal)...so no pictures. I DEFINATELY want to go next year though! I'm sad we missed it. Maybe we can arrange a B-get-together sometime this summer with you and Michael (& our B's of course)! How was the show in Brighton? You were showing right?

The rest of you that show I am sure have experienced this - when the judge is someone that values what I've brought to the ring - my dog is horrid and doesn't win. When I know that the judge likes something different than what I've got that day - my dog is perfect and doesn't win. Ah well - different dog show different day different outcome. I know from my vantage point in the center of the ring that sometimes after I judge and I look at the catalog - many times animals I have adored before - just don't have a good day or show their best. One of my friends was the Breed judge of some of the working breeds at Westminster and she offered this little tidbit of information. The camera location on the down and back was really off to the angle a bit so LOTS of the dogs that acutally looked good - looke horrid on TV. In addition she said that the rings were horridly small. The great danes could hardly get to a trot.

Hi Quercus! I was SO disappointed that we couldnt make it, but the reason why made up for it, we were driving to chicago to pick up Meeka who we adopted from BRAT.. Saturday was the only day we could get her, and we left at 6am and didnt get back till 9pm.. darn snow storm! We wanted to go sunday but again the snow, and we didnt want to leave her the first day she was home! How did the show go?? i meant to post saying i wasnt going to make it, but i was getting all the plans ready to pick up meeka and it slipped my mind..

The gang in the picture "Basenji and rescue friends" where certainly entertaining but at the same time sad. One of the club members works for a Vet. Puppy mills bring in dogs for various reasons and sometimes after the Vet care is completed the Puppy mills figure they have too large of a bill and just don't come back to pick them up. This lady takes them in and she keeps them with her Basenji's. The Pug had both legs broken, and currently cannot use it's front legs, but somehow get's around…....it's a touch sad to watch. The little Chi wha wha, had a broken leg and was in a cast. Hopefully it will heal correctly and it can walk without problem.....they just don't know. Good to know there's folks that have a kind heart and are willing to take in such sad cases that no one else wants. My son and I couldn't help looking at them in there and comparing them to the toys on the Isle of misfit toys from the Christmas cartoon. They really where cute with they're basenji foster mom.
